David Brent Hughes

David B. Hughes, age75, died January 9, 2011 at home peacefully in his sleep. He was born March 20th, 1935 in Bristow, OK. He graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1959 with a Hotel Restaurant Administration B.S. Degree. He later moved to Houston where he worked as a restaurant manager. David managed the Houston Engineering & Scientific Society, and retired from Wyatt’s Cafeteria in 1992 after many years of faithful service. David was preceded in death by his wife Betsy, of 48 years. He is survived by his son Mark Hughes, grandson, Gavin Hughes, sisters: Sarah Von Dran, Margaret Hughes, and Colleen Cowart, nieces; Karen Jones, Jane Feland, Carol Cowart, Helen Afton Steinel and Chaille Fuquay, nephews; Ulrich Von Dran, Eric Von Dran, Raymond Jones, Cody Jones, Dr. Roger Cowart and Kim Cowart and several great nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit the family, beginning at 10am on Friday January 14, 2011, at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Houston, TX., where services will be held at 11am in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association.
