David Kenneth Hughes Jr.

David K Hughes, Jr, 65, entered into rest on August 15th, 2022. David was born on March 1, 1957 in Ithaca, N Y. His was a lifetime dedicated to education, teaching, mentoring, and volunteering. He earned a BS in education from SUNY Geneseo, NY. He also obtained a Masters in Special Education from the Univ of Houston as well as a Masters in Counselor Education from University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas.

Teaching rewarded him at Spring High School and counseling later at Cy Fair ISD’s Hamilton Middle School.

During his lifetime he volunteered at Crisis Hot Line, the Family Service Center, the Summer Academy at St. Thomas/Reagan High School, and the Human Growth Group Facilitator. He was chosen as a City of Houston annual Volunteer of the Year.

Surviving David are his brother, Danny (wife Brenda) of Tennessee; sisters, Susan Tuttle (husband Lowell) of Houston, and Stacy Hughes, New York; his nephews, Ryan Tuttle, Joshua Hughes, and Joseph Hughes. David is predeceased by his parents, Barbara Warde (Hughes) and David Hughes.
