Following his graduation from St. Pius X high school in 1962, David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1962-1970 in the Security/Law Enforcement career field and specialized in Military Sentry Dog (K-9) deployment and training in Germany, the U.S., and Southeast Asia.
Upon his discharge from the military, David returned to Houston with his family and began a successful 40 year career in construction operations and management. He also continued his law enforcement practice by proudly serving the Houston area as a Reserve Deputy Patrolman, and later as a Detective, with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, ranching, aviation, baseball coaching and officiating, motorcycling and spending time with family and lifelong friends.
David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margret; sons James and Phillip; granddaughters McCale Luna (Brad) and Katrina, brothers Martin Jr. (Doana), Russell (Clara), Michael, Robert (Robin), Norman, Charlie, sister Mary Schneider (Mike), and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, both here and in Germany. He was preceded in death by his parents Martin Sr. and Gertrude.
A funeral service is planned for July 13th at 10:00am at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church in Katy, Texas with internment following at the Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Fite family requests you make donations to your favorite charity.
