I didn't realize how much I wanted to be a mom until David came into my life. Though he was so small at birth, being 10 weeks premature and weighing less than 3 pounds, he looked intently around his surroundings with his big brown eyes.
He stole my heart from that day forward.

From the very beginning of his life, David possessed a curiosity and wonderment of our world. I was fortunate that my family lived very close to him, and we were able to spend a lot of time together. 
Often times, people don't appreciate such a blessing until their loved one is gone.  I never took this for granted. David brought such joy into my life and my family's. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.

David will always live in my heart and soul.  I will never forget him and his joy for life.

Growing up, I have many memories of family parties with David. It seemed that our grandparents organized a family party on a weekly basis. We will greatly miss you, David.  Chris

When I think of David, all I can think of a is a fun charismatic leader who led us on many camping trips and made sure we were well prepared for the weekend. 

This is heartbreaking to hear. David was someone I looked up to. He was clean cut and classy. 

I have so many memories. I don't know where to start.  David and I were only 3 months apart in age.  We did a lot together, especially when we were younger - sleepovers, camping trips, learning to ride bikes, feeding deer, trick or treating, watching movies in Uncle Glen's van and jamming to Bon Jovi. I will always cherish these memories.

David lived his life as a true “Celebration of life” and that’s exactly what he would ask of us today. He would want us to “Remember Me” as it’s printed on his prayer card. Throughout our sorrows, we need to find happiness as he would have wanted. It’s difficult to make it through each day today without emotions of grief, morning, anger, all driven by love and loss.
But David would want us to be strong, and continue to live our lives, and not forget to celebrate life, especially in these upcoming days, leading to our Jesus’s birth.  So as you turn on your Christmas lights this year, and every year, please remember David and the lights he shined on all of us. 
Remember to express your love, and give a big hug, to those that you love.

Glen Fabian Eulogy:  

Thank you all for coming today. Many of you have traveled from afar, a special thank you. Most of you knew David from youth, high school, college, work, or just friends of friends. We appreciate the touching  memories posted to David’s funeral home website.   If you haven’t already, please take a moment and add to his Life Remembered  Book.
You have all touched him, and helped shape him into the man he became – as illustrated by the many memories you have been sharing. Natalie constantly looked after him and used her special “STOP” when things were too much. Even his beloved dog Zeke conditioned him - by ringing the backdoor bell to go potty!  
But no other person, shaped him as much as his mother. It’s her caring love, and tender guidance, that polished him to a brilliant shine.  
Amongst many of his traits, David was spiritual, kind, sweet, caring, compassionate, intelligent, emotionally supportive, and a born leader.  
He had a way of making things happen, including beating the odds when he was born 10 weeks early, at 2 pounds 14 ounces. 2/14 Valentines Day – a sign of his big heart.  
He always treated people with dignity and respect.  Despite being one of the most impatient people you could ever meet, he could sure carve up a pumpkin – as he did every year!
He was a spark that started many flames. His light shined brighter and stronger than most, but unfortunately not as long. He left his fingerprints on all of us.

To conclude, this eulogy is obviously from my perspective mostly, but I know each person in this room could recount a dozen stories at a minimum about their experiences with David. I know his cousins on uncle Glen’s side of the family could tell stories about summer afternoons at the cottage on Christie lake.  I know Anthony, Brian, Trey and Ryan could reminisce for hours about college and Boy Scouts. Many stories probably wouldn’t be appropriate to share in front of this congregation! And Aunt Geri, Uncle Glen and Natalie, and Blake now too; I know all of you have stories and memories that are far beyond what any of us could fathom. 

David was beloved.

He advised me scholastically, both in high school and college. I remember in high school, he gave me an old textbook from AP US history; a class that he eventually dropped, but I passed it because he gave me the book in advance with all his highlights and notes. In college, he showed me the right path.

As most of you know David was a chemical engineer which greatly influenced me to pursue my career in electrical engineering. And without his scholastic influence, I don’t know if I would be here in my current career. 

He advised me socially, by encouraging me to join the same engineering freshman leader ship organization of which he was a member and a officer. And of course influencing me to join the greatest university on the planet. Morally, by influencing me to join the Boy Scouts. 

Spiritually, he was the model of reverence.  I remember as a little guy thinking I want to be like David. The spiritual model leaving a permanent impact on me in terms of how I should pursue my own spirituality. I followed his example attending CCE classes. And I did the best to pay attention although I know David was definitely better than me. Even in college I recall David and Natalie doing their best to influencing me to attend mass, which I did occasionally. But David was always there, regardless of how late his Saturday night was. Through all these influences either explicit through him advising me or me seeking his advice, or implicit through his example, there’s one facet that sticks out the most. He taught me how to be a good big brother by the way he treated me, and Natalie, and my little brother. I owe so much to him. I would not be the person I am right now without him. 


Louis Barber Eulogy


I’m sure most of you know this, but the name David has deep biblical roots. And  probably many of you could also tell me that the name is of Hebrew origin, being from the Old Testament. However, I have not met many people that could tell me the meaning of David. 


David means beloved. And what a fitting name for him. A beloved son, brother, cousin, grandson, friend, nephew, coworker, student. The list is seemingly infinite of the various roles that David had, and in every one he was truly beloved. 


He exhibited the most ideal and purest of human characteristics from the day he entered this world to the day he left it. There’s not a day, an hour, or an instant where he wasn’t concerned about the well-being of others, his family, the latest news of his friends, and of course ensuring that Zeke had the highest quality dog food for his hyper allergenic self.  By all these people and pets, David was beloved.

Of course I know this first hand because I grew up just down the street from him almost a exactly mile away, attending the same schools, the same church, and of course the same Boy Scout troop. There wasn’t an adult or peer who didn’t hold David in the highest esteem. Especially me. 

I remember when he took me under his wing on my first boy Scout camping trip at Buffalo Trails Scout Ranch in West Texas. We spent so much time growing up together, but this was really the first time we were together 24X7. It lasted six or seven days and we were with each other every moment taking all the same merit badges, and eating together. We were tent mates. What I remember so potently is how homesick all of the other younger scouts were. But I wasn’t. Because I had David.

He advised me in all facets of my life. And it gives me such a profound sense of love and connection that I don’t need to exaggerate or embellished in the slightest. 

My cousin David was in my life from the day I was born. 
I looked at David like a big brother. For the cousins, he made family gatherings fun. When we were young,
David would have us sneak upstairs and create zany ways to surprise the adults visiting in the dining room. 
A few examples include wrapping ourselves in foil and pretending we were aliens and covering ourselves with my dad's shaving cream.

As adults, we still had fun together. David and I are pictured below eating at our grandma's favorite restaurant.  The food looked suspect!

I will dearly miss you, David. Our family gatherings will not be the same without you.

Geri, Glenn and Natalie:

Robert and I are absolutely heartbroken over the loss of your dear David.  We didn't really know David, but we know his two wonderful parents, and reading all of these memories and seeing the happy smiles in all the photos shows how you raised him to be a fine man.  I see a vibrant man with a big smile and a big heart who loved his friends, family and living life to the fullest.  I am at a loss for words to convey how distressed I am for you and wish you peace and comfort in the days ahead.

I met David during our freshman year at A&M through LIFE. He had the most contagious smile and a calm, confident demeanor.

A small memory that still makes me smile - shortly after I met him, it snowed on campus and we went outside to experience the rare Texas weather event. We attempted to make a snowman (not a lot to work with) but settled for a giant A&M that he carved into the snowy field with his boot. The walk back to the dorms was SO slippery on the stone sidewalk.

Every memory I have of David is a good one, he had the best outlook on life.

Rest In Peace, David. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone who cherished him. He was taken far too soon.

Many of my happy memories at Texas A&M were times spent with David. Playing ultimate frisbee, getting late night pizza, and planning LIFE events. He was generous with his kindness and his optimism. David made everyone feel included. I am lucky to have called him a friend.

My sincerest condolences to his family. It was clear that David had so much love for and from you all.

Although he grew to be a fine young man, David will always be one of my Boy Scout boys.  Through many meetings and countless campouts, I have fond memories of watching David grow from a young boy to an Eagle Scout.  His unwavering friendship with the "fab five" endured through Scouts, TAMU and into adult life.  Ryan, Trey, Anthony and Brian have lost a true brother.

I will always remember David's smile, positive attitude and natural leadership.  He touched so many lives and his presence will be missed until we meet again.



For those that did not know my cousin David Fabian ....like many in our family ...he was a heart of gold. Kind hearted, soft spoken, he deserved the world and was taken to soon. The world is and will honestly be less of a place without him.

I thought this posted a couple of days ago, but didn't see it, so didn't want to not acknowledge my sincere condolences to the Fabian family for their devastating loss.  Reviewing the memories posted by all, along with the wonderful photos, tells me that David was a precious soul that shined brightly on all those he met as well as a gift from God to this world.   My thoughts and prayers to Glenn, Geri and Natalie during this difficult time.

David’s influence was far reaching, as I have experienced.  You did not have to know David long or even meet him in person to know that he was a truly special person.
I worked with David since July but always on the phone or by email.  And yet, all the qualities of knowing him in person radiated through everything he did.  No question was too small or request too trivial for David.  He went the extra mile to lend a hand.
Because of David, what seemed impossible became doable.  And problems that were unsolved became solutions.
Every Monday morning, we exchanged emails and shared improvements over the previous week.  Without David at the other end, there is an emptiness.  
I know David will be missed in more ways than can be counted, but there will be a silent prayer on Monday mornings for David and all the family, friends, co-workers, classmates, cousins, that were touched because David was there.

I was lucky to call David my coworker and peer for the the last 4+ years. He was kind and patient and was always there to listen or provide support in any way he could. He was able to look at any situation in our plant from multiple viewpoints (operations, engineering, continuous improvement) from his years of experience with the company, strong engineering background, and passion to keep making things better! I always appreciated that if I consulted David on just about anything, I could trust any feedback or advice he provided.  He cared about the people he worked with and was passionate about the work we did every day! David lit up whether he was talking about family trips to Michigan, cruising, or a simple get together with his family over the weekend. His love for his family was so evident! AND he was the best dog Dad ever to Zeke! May he Rest In Peace. David’s family and loved ones will remain in my prayers. 

I am so thankful to have met and befriended David in college. He was one of the kindest souls I've ever met, incredibly hard-working, and a great leader.

He was always warm and welcoming, a friend to everyone he met, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He brightened every room he entered. You couldn't find a better guy.

Rest in peace David, you will be forever missed. Thank you for the impact you left on the rest of us. 

I have been David’s acquaintance since middle school and later became his friend and colleague. Knowing of him even then although we went to different high schools and then later we went to Texas A&M at the same time (such a huge school you were lucky to see a familiar face!).  Since then, I have worked alongside him with Ecolab/Nalco Champion/ChampionX. Our career paths were definitely not the same, with mine being in HR, but it was so nice to have such a familiar and reassuring prescience along for the ride. David was very passionate in the Leadership Development and Co-Op Programs in the way the company strove to attract and build young engineers. Another coworker pointed out to me just how unique the happenstance was between us, totally different interests and career paths, knowing one another from such a young age but being able to contribute and serve one another professionally on a leadership team decades later was such an honor. 
Here is a memory of us at Texas A&M trying to recruit young talent for what was then Ecolab. You are so missed,  David. My thoughts, extreme condolences and prayers are with his family and all the lives he touched and impacted with his treasured personality and profound congeniality. 

We have so many wonderful memories spending time with the Fabian family and David was a huge part of making our time together special. When all of the kids hung out, David was outnumbered by girls, but that never mattered. In fact, he'd lead everyone in fun games and obstacle courses with the added twist of trivia (sometimes, questions he only knew the answer to)!  One of our favorite memories is traveling to New Braunfels together as families, braving the water slides at Schlitterbahn and running around the local restaurants. We were always so happy to get together whether it was a crawfish boil, a pool party or a campout/sleepover! We will miss David so so much. His contagious personality has left such an impression on us and his memory will live forever in our hearts. 

David, 

It’s too hard to pick a story out of 20 years of friendship. I echo the feelings of our friend group as I read through the stories they shared. You helped bring our group together over the years and I am so thankful for that. 

One of my favorite memories is when we camped together at Enchanted Rock during Boy Scouts. I remember waking up in our tent to the excitement of finding a fresh powdering of snow on our tent and camp site.  With the sun barely risen, we had to explore in wonder at how our campsite had changed overnight. The morning consisted of snow ball fights and building snowman as we enjoyed the rare sight of snow in Texas. I also remember spending time that morning exploring with your dad the frozen ice over all the rocks. While I did find myself at the hospital on that trip after an encounter with one of the many rocks, it is still one of my favorite camping trips. 

From movie nights to pool parties, I am forever thankful for your family opening their home to me whenever I would come to visit. My heart and love is with them. Rest easy my friend.

Davis was around 8 years old. We were all up at the cottage for our annual summer romp. By “all”, I mean all the Fabians, all the relatives, all the friends, and all their children. Our usual people numbers were in the 20s getting into the 40s on a good day. 

One of my kids (Merlin or Ariana) ran up to me all excited. “Come see what David found!”  I was led to a group of chattering children all huddled around something.  In the center of the huddle was David gingerly holding a baby turtle by the rear. It was only about 3 inches long. 

Now, I grew up on a farm, which was why my kids came and got me. From the way that baby turtle was throwing its head right and left, trying to get at whatever held him, I knew it was a baby snapping turtle. 
“What should we do with it?” David asks.  “Should we try to take care of it?”  
I didn’t want to just blurt out it was a snapper, so I said “Let’s try to figure out what kind of turtle it is. If it is a snapping turtle it will grab anything we put near its mouth. If it is another kind of turtle it’s head will retract into its shell.”
I looked around. “Let’s see if we can find a small stick…..”
“OW!!!”
I turned back and the turtle was hanging off of David’s finger!  
“Why did you do that?” I asked.
David stared at me wide-eyed, “I didn’t think he would bite me. It really hurts. Get him off!”
David shook his finger and the turtle was small enough that it finally fell off. 
I explained that at the farm we would kill any snapping turtles because they were dangerous to the livestock. Especially the ducks and geese. David was appalled. “We can’t kill it!”  
He took it back to the lake and let it go. 

He stood up for his beliefs. He always did the right thing.

 That was David. 

I will miss him. 

David,

I can’t believe it’s been fifteen years since we ended up being in the same very first high school class – first period, freshman year, English with Elkins. I’ll admit I was nervous for that first day and it was so great to see a friendly face. While we had known each other for several years in boy scouts, this was where we started to spend more time together and I’m so happy I got to know you as well as I did. 

Over the next few years, you, me, Ryan, Brian, and Trey were able to get even closer. You and your family opened up your home to us for hangouts, pool parties, barbecues, school projects, and countless other occasions. 

When we all went off to college, and Brian and I went to different schools, I’ll admit I had my doubts that we would be able to keep up our friendship. But we were all lucky – we had a great friend like you that made sure that didn’t happen. You always reached out to hang over break, hosted us in your apartment, and even opened up your family’s lake house to us for an awesome week up in Michigan.

After we all started our real jobs out of college, I can’t say we stayed in touch as often, but you always made a point of setting things up for us to make sure we all kept a strong bond. You were truly the glue that kept us all together. 

I love you like a brother and will never forget all the wonderful memories we made together. My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family.

I always remember how exceptionally kind and generous you were. In college, you always offered your home to our student organization for overnight trips and you and your family made us all feel so welcome. You were someone who was always ready to make an new friend out of a stranger, so thoughtful, happy to help, always smiling, a great leader and mentor to others. Just the best kind of person. I can’t believe this news and I grieve your absence alongside your family. Rest In Peace, David.

I struggled to express David's impact on my life. I am not family or close friends. I am a coworker  who spent time with him at least 40 hours a week at the Plant for the last 4 years or so. In an ever changing environment and challenging situations, I could always count on David to find a silver lining. Continuous improvement is a value our company strives for. Whereas some may view this as something is always in need of repair; I could always count on David to cast that optimistic light "things are good, but we can make them better". His dedication to his profession, his love for sharing stories of family &  friends, and his genuine caring personality made him a pleasure to work with.  Reading some of the posts confirmed his joy, optimism, and helpful nature was a 24/7 gig. He showed me a little positivity goes a long way and that dog love is awesome love.

My prayers  to the family and please know that David will be missed by his coworker and I can smile because he left and imprint on me. God bless.

I am so lucky to have gotten to know David over the past 4 years at work. It truly hurts to write this, as I always felt that we would keep in touch for decades after our time as colleagues at the plant in Sugar Land.

The time we spent working together, the many conversations we had about our dogs & family, our Process Engineering Group movie nights, the many visits to Taco Bell on Fridays-  are memories I will cherish forever. 

My deepest condolences to David’s family. Anyone who spent time with David could tell how close he was with his family. He loved talking about you all, his family vacations, and his dear Zeke.

David and I met back in 2015 while working together on the Corsicana engineering team. He was my mentor and car-pool buddy and it took a surprisingly short amount of time for us to become really good friends. David made me feel just like family- mostly through telling stories about his own family, especially his shenanigans with Natalie. He was always so kind, funny, and welcoming. When we crossed paths again in Joliet, our friend group grew bigger and he extended that same brotherly friendship to everyone. I remember the weekend we all spent at the lake cabin in Michigan and how we teased / thanked him for being the “hostess with the most-ess.” He laughed and beamed with the pure joy he got from sharing his little slice of heaven with his friends. David was an outstanding engineer and a huge help to anyone who needed it. He was monumental in my days as a young(er) engineer starting out my career with his professional guidance and encouragement. But by far, his biggest impact has been the happiness, laughter, and friendship that I was lucky enough to share with him- I’ll cherish those wonderful memories forever.

When life and LIFE got tough, I could always lean on David. He was genuinely kind and his smile could change the mood of a whole room. I have many fond memories of our time at A&M, one of the best being the day we both got our Aggie rings.  I’m truly grateful for all of the time we shared and the impact he had on my life. 

I still remember the recruiting trip to Texas A&M where I was handed a resume and  asked if I knew the candidate, as he too was from Sugar Land.  To my very pleasant surprise, not only did I know this candidate but he and my son had been friends since their days at Brazos Bend Elementary.   I was so excited to have David join our organization and watch him continue to grow professionally. Several  years later, David even became my Aggieland recruiting buddy and happily joined me back on campus. It was always an exhausting couple of days but David always had a smile on his face and a kind word for you.  He  was a truly kind person and we are going to miss David immensely. 

Reflecting on our time together at Texas A&M - as close friends, neighbors, partners in our leadership organization - David had the best perspective on life. He saw the good in people. He cherished people and moments, and he let people know how much they meant to him, took nothing for granted. 

My favorite part of David is how freely he showed who he was. He was never anything he was not, nothing was not true. He shared honest fears, dreams. He just let people in. To me, David was a breath of fresh air, a comforting presence, unconditional support, like coming home. 

Having a friend like David had a profound impact on me, made me a better more open and trusting person. I'm happy for the time we had together, I'm soaking in every bit of goodness I got from that time, and I'm just devastated he is gone. Wishing peace for David's family, his friends, and all those who loved him. 

I remember playing the belly button fairy game with David and Natalie when they were youngsters. I made up the belly button game to play with all my nieces and nephews. The belly button fairy is the same as the tooth fairy except that the belly button fairy collects belly buttons instead of teeth. I sent all my nieces and nephews letters addressed from the belly button fairy. I told them that the belly button fairy had misplaced their belly button and asked if they could talk to their parents about locating their belly button for a reward by returning a questionnaire that I enclosed with a return self-addressed stamped envelope. Even though the questionnaire did not request proof, David not only returned the questionnaire but also returned the lint that was in his belly button and hoped that it would suffice to get the reward. I replied that it more than satisfied the request and sent him a reward. On another occasion, I had the pleasure of babysitting David and Natalie so that their parents could have a "date" night. I played the restaurant game with David and Natalie to pass the time. In the restaurant game, I made up a menu of the food and soda pop that was in Glen and Geri's freezer and refrigerator. I had them sit at the kitchen table and order off the menu just like you do at a restaurant. We had salads, appetizers, the main course, and dessert. I always enjoyed visiting with David whether it was by phone or messaging or at family parties. He and Natalie were always a joy to be with. My condolences to my sister, brother-in-law, and niece. I am so sorry for this loss and miss David.

I am bestowed with the opportunity to share my memories of David .  My goodness, where do I begin?  I was present when my mother-in-law woke me and my wife on the day he was born - which was not an easy day.  I remember quite well the day I first saw him in the ICU in Texas Womens Hosptial - not an easy day.  I remember my brother-in-law telling me," you know Buff, he is going to need a GodFather."  Well, my role was filled and I knew my life would never be the same.  From that day until this, I had the honor and privilege of watching him develop from a "premie" baby into a grown man of exceptional character and accomplishment.  He was the most unselfish human being I have ever met...until the end.  He idolized his parents, worshipped his sister, and loved so deeply all of those who were near him...especially his cousins and his relatives.  There has not been a time...not an hour or a second...when I remember him wanting to do the right thing or worrying about people who needed assistance when life threw them a curve ball.  He was always at his family's service: his cousin Louis when he first entered Boy Scouts, his cousin John (whom he referred to as Johnny Bravo), his sister, his parents, his grandparents...and the list continues.  As a small child I remember him saying,"Uncle Buff, you can't eat candy because it's bad for your teeth."  True Enough.  Then, I remember him wanting to help me and his father take a tree down in his backyard (we made him stay in his bedroom while he jumped on his bed and starred out of the window- Ugh, agony!).  His eagle scout rank was a proud moment.  But not nearly as proud as the day he graduated Texas A&M with a Chemical Engineering Degree!  He was always unselfish and concerned for others...no matter his accomplishments or his good fortune.  He was the best of us all and will lighten the afterlife with the same light he showed all of us.

David had a tough start in life, being born very small. He quickly made up any lost ground becoming a great student. David excelled in all that he did. Bright and kind and gentle. He became a fine man, which his parents are very proud of. We are fortunate to have been called his friends. He will be missed more than words can express. David is loved deeply by Glen, Geri and Natalie, who are an incredibly close family who adore one another. Our prayers are with Glen, Geri and Natalie who have an irreplaceable loss. We love the Fabians.

David and I met in 2003 after both joining Boy Scout Troop 38. Our friendship developed over the years through shared experiences on camping trips, Scout camps, and other activities. By the time high school rolled around, David and I had many classes together, including Physics and Chemistry. He was such a hard- working and intelligent student, and I always looked up to him. When we weren’t in school or at Scouts, David and I spent time with our friends. David was such a compassionate, caring friend, and I treasured his friendship.  After graduating high school, David and I both had the opportunity to attend Texas A&M. Although we had different paths of study, we still spent time together and made some great memories on camping trips and a cruise. One of the things about David’s friendship that I am thankful for is how David did a great job bringing our group together. He always had ideas for activities to bring us together, even after everyone got busy with life after college, including concerts and deep sea fishing trips. David was a Godly man of character and a dear friend. His tragic passing was deeply sorrowful; however I am forever grateful for his friendship over the years.

Glen and Geri and the entire Fabian  family. I was so sorry to learn about your loss. My deepest condolences to you and your entire extended family. I never had the opportunity to meet David but given how close your family appears it must be a tremendous loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers during this incredibly hard time. 

My David ….. I M so thankful that I worked with you at Ecolab. We had some good times. When my parents passed you sent flowers and you always checked on me to make sure I was ok.  You will be missed 

David was one of the "kids" that I worked with at Ecolab in Joliet.

He always had a smile and a positive attitude. There were 3 things that he talked about---- his family, his dog, Zeke, and the Michigan cabin.
His loss is like losing my own son.

David & I met the week before he began college through Fish Camp. I was lucky enough to call myself David’s Camp Taylor 2010 DG “Dad” at Texas A&M. David was always kind, easy to talk to, and opened up at camp, really allowing us to help transition him into his collegiate experience. My mother passed away just a couple of months after Fish Camp 2010, and David wrote me a beautiful letter expressing his condolences to me.  I am beyond saddened to now have to write this same message to his family and friends. He will always be in my thoughts & I’m glad we were able to share a piece of our lives together through Texas A&M. 

David was such a kind, loving big brother to Natalie.  He always impressed  us as a responsible, personable and polite young man with a bright future. May his memory be a blessing. 


David worked for me at the Kinkaid School Store many summers along side his sister Natalie.  David was a hard worker with a big smile and an even bigger heart for his little sister.  The love and tenderness they shared was palpable and he was always looking out for her.  

I have enjoyed watching Jeri, Glen, David, and Natalie through the years as they took trips and had family celebrations.  Their bond cannot be broken even with death.  

Rest in peace my sweet, young friend.  

I have so many great memories over the years spending holidays with David on the lake and at the Jelinek lodge in Evart, MI. He will forever be the two time champion of our all-family corn hole tournaments. One of my favorite memories though was spending an entire freezing cold day skiing near Kalamazoo with David and Glen when they were visiting colleges in Michigan. It was non-stop up and down trying to find every treacherous spot on the small hills to provide a thrill.  I think of how much fun we had that day every time we take my two boys skiing.

Dear Glen and Jeri,
My heart is broken for you.  I cannot imagine what this time is like for you and Natalie.  It is so very clear what a loving and close family you are.  I have loved seeing all the things you have done as a family over the years.  What a blessing that you will always have those memories to hold in your hearts.  I could see that David’s smile would light up a room, know that his love for all of you was a big part of that smile.

For the last 20 years, you have been one of the best friends I could have ever asked for. We met in fifth grade through Boy Scouts and we got to know one another through monthly trips, summer camps, and other activities. As time passed, we became closer and developed our friendship throughout high school, passing the time by hanging out with friends at any opportunity we could muster. When college came, we roomed together for all four years, took the same classes, and created several unforgettable experiences that I will always remember. Even as adults, we have stayed in contact often, despite life sometimes getting in the way. You are a friend that I intended to have with me until the very end. You were kind, thoughtful, and funny, and you knew how to support those around you that you loved. Being with you felt like spending time with true family. I am so grateful for having had you in my life, and I will always retain the wonderful memories we shared. I am deeply saddened by your sudden absence, but I will not let that prevent me from being thankful for the time I did have with you. You are both my friend and family, and you will always be in my heart. Until we see each other again, may you rest peacefully and watch over us from above.

Ha, the boys, and I are still at a lost for words.  Please accept our most sincere condolences and deepest, heart-felt sympathy. We share in this time of grief, but also share in the love and memories of David.  The attached picture says it all.  David was a brother all scouts in Troop 38.  David was loved by all of his scouting brothers.  May the memories of David and the love of family surround you and give you strength in the days ahead.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Dave, being shin deep in the waters of Christie Lake with A fishing pole in our hand and not a care in our heads is one of my favorite memories. That  along with staying up countless nights past bedtime with all of us cousins stuffed in one room in aunt Dorothy’s cabin Laughing until the sun came up or she came out of her room and yelled at us. Those will be memories that I will cherish forever. Rest easy cousin we love you.
