Dave was born in Newcastle, PA on November 29, 1937. He graduated from Lawrence Park High School in 1956, and served in the US Navy Reserves from 1954 to 1962. He graduated with a bachelor of science in education from Edinboro State College of PA and a master of science in teaching from the University of Montana. He was a teacher in Fort LeBoeuf, PA for 10 years before moving his family to Baytown, TX in 1970. He was a teacher at Cedar Bayou Jr. High and later, Sterling High School where he taught physics and chemistry. He eventually retired from Sterling. However, he never stopped working. He taught physics part time at Lee College and continued volunteering for Sterling High School as a videographer for school events. His passion for volunteering continued at San Jacinto Methodist Hospital and was a very active member of St. Marks United Methodist Church of Baytown. Dave enjoyed traveling and volunteering with his church family. He loved his grandchildren and tried to make every school and sporting event possible. He will always be remembered for his humble service and love of his family.
Dave earned many awards for his service to the community. Some of them include; the American Red Cross Reliability Award, the Exxon Math / Science Excellence in Teaching Award, Appreciation Service and Support for the Sterling High School Orchestra, for Meritorious and Devoted Service as President of the Optimist Club of North Baytown, District Secretary’s Award “Service with Honor” for the Southeast Texas District, and Volunteer of the Year Award for the Hearts and Hands of Baytown.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Romeo Beltram and Dorothy Miller Cameron; brother, “Sonny” Beltram and sister, Wanda Nicks. He is survived by his sister, Betty Jo May; his children (and spouses), Renee Ambler (Robert) of Dayton, TX, Jimmy Beltram (Nikki) of Beach City, TX, Scott Beltram (Cherie) of New Caney, TX, Jennifer Coates (Keven) of Cypress, TX; his grandchildren, Jason Gomez, Ryan Gomez, Dawson Beltram, Carter Beltram, Kennedy Beltram, Jordon Coates, Marc Coates and Parker Coates; his great grandson, Jovanni Gomez; and his rescue cats, Misty and Kelly.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at St. Marks United Methodist church, 3811 North Main, Baytown, Texas 77521.
