David was born on October 23rd, 1949 in Houston, TX and grew up in Magnolia Park with many beloved family members and friends. Always known as the life of the party, he graduated from Milby High School in 1968 and attended the University of Houston for a short while. On November 17, 1973, he married the love of his life, the former Martha Susan Castillo. Together, they put all their love back in to their children and the rest of their family. Family was everything to David, especially his family in Houston.
He worked for AT&T for 25+ years. He spent most of his time outside of work being social with family and friends, using his green thumb in the garden and travelling with his beloved wife when able. He also loved a good scary movie and a good meal and had a knack for making himself and others laugh. He was a wonderful father and grandfather.
David is survived by his wife, Martha Arredondo; children, Diane Shearin and her husband, Charles Shearin of Dallas, TX, Erik Arredondo of Houston, TX and Melissa Arredondo and Angela Moreno of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Tyler Shearin, Vanessa Shearin, Alyssa Shearin, Z’eayan Shearin, Emily Moreno and Dahlia Moreno of Dallas, TX; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends in both Houston and Dallas, TX. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Julian and Consuelo Alva, mother Dahlia Barrera and brother John Arredondo of Houston, TX. Family meant so much to him and he will be at rest in Houston, his true home.
A viewing will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm on Monday, October 28th at Forest Park funeral home, 6900 Lawndale St., Houston, TX 77023. A rosary will also take place at 7 pm for those who wish to participate. A mass to celebrate his life before he is laid to rest will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, October 29th at Immaculate Heart of Mary church at 7539 Ave K, Houston, TX 77012.
