A Time to Be Born…Darlene Walter was born on April 17,1959 in Donaldsonville, La. A life-long resident of Louisiana before ultimately moving to Texas, Darlene enjoyed worshipping the Lord, cooking, praying, writing, and speaking poetry. Darlene was married to Curtis Walter.
A Time to Plant…Darlene accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age at Second Good Hope Baptist Church in New Orleans, La. under the leadership of the late Pastor Webster Carroll Sr. Darlene attended L.B. Landry High School in New Orleans, La. and after graduating she attended Spellman college. She would later receive her Associate degree from Houston Community College and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of Houston Downtown. Darlene also attended the College of Biblical Studies.
Darlene was employed as an Administrative Assistant in both private and public schools for many years. She most recently worked at Kirby Middle School North Forest Independence School District, before retiring from Atascocita High School in Humble, Texas.
A Time to Serve…Darlene especially loved serving and helping others. Darlene was a faithful member of Inspire Church Houston under the leadership of Pastor R.A. Heard. She was a very active volunteer in the Prayer Ministry and Women’s Ministry. She sponsored My 3 Buddies.com, a ministry focused on assisting teens graduating from high school and Prince & Princess Prayer Warrior Ministries which focused on praying and interceding on behalf of local churches. She spent countless hours volunteering with many non-profit organizations in Houston and the surrounding areas.
A Time to Cherish…She leaves to cherish her memories her spouse of 10 years Curtis Walter, one son; Christopher Thompson (Victoria); three sisters; Barbara, Celestine, and Brenda; one brother Benny, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Time to Rest…Darlene transitioned from labor to reward on September 1, 2021. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Louis Lawrence, her mother Juanita Bush, her brother Edward Bush, four sisters Mary Armstead, Betty, Dianne, and Elaine Bush. We look forward to a heavenly reunion and praise God for sharing her with us.
