Darla was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to many. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. She knew early on that she had been called to help others. Throughout her nursing career she worked in many different areas but cherished her time working in the Nursery the most. Sometimes reserved but with a smile that could light up a room, she never hesitated to help a friend or family member in need.
Her caring and empathetic nature was also evident in her love of all animals. Throughout the years, many pets were lucky enough to be a part of Darla’s family. She left behind her beloved Pomeranian Bob the Entertainer and cat Cowboy who were both spoiled rotten. Her love of horses began as a child and did not wane throughout her life. In her younger years, she competed in the Hunter Jumper ring with her Thoroughbred, Mighty Land. Later, she enjoyed her Haflinger ponies doing Combined Driving. Her love of horses passed on to both her daughter Jennifer who loves horseback riding and her granddaughter Scarlett who demands weekly pony rides at 19 months old. She loved to draw and took weekly art lessons with friends in Bryan, TX. She enjoyed collecting antiques and the hunt for good finds at local garage sales. She was a fierce advocate and role model for her fellow LAMmie’s. She loved completely without reservation and gave hugs like no other.
