Danny Neil Powell Jr. was born in Houston, Texas, on July 9, 1966, to the proud parents Dorothy Mae Washington and Danny Neil Powell Sr. He was raised in the Acres Homes Community.
Danny accepted Christ at an early age, at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late pastor Rev. B.J. Lewis. Danny was a foundational member at Progressive MBC during his entail youth years. His area of service was an usher.
He attended Mary McLeod Bethune elementary, Stovall Middle School, graduating May 25, 1985, from Chester H. Nimitz High School, where he played football and basketball. He went on to attend U of H downtown, where he obtained his peace officer certification.
Danny worked for (TDCJ) Texas Department of Criminal Justice for fifteen years and Fort Bend Sheriff Department.
He was an avid sports enthusiast; he loves the Houston Rockets, the Houston Astros, and the University of Texas Longhorns. However, he was a die-hard Houston Texan fan.
On November 17, 2017, he married his childhood friend, Yolanda Marie Potts-Powell no children were born to this union.
Danny was preceded in death by his father Danny(Daniel) Neil Powell Sr., his mother Dorothy Mae Powell, his brother Demeetris Washington, and his sister Virginia Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Yolanda Potts-Powell, his sister Valerie Powell Kelly of Richmond, Texas, his son Donte Powell of Houston, Texas, his daughter Danielle Powell of Houston, Texas, and two stepdaughters Shemaco Potts of Houston, Texas, Alonda Potts of Houston, Texas, five-step grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
