She was beautiful inside and out. She had a zest for living life to the fullest and was filled with so much love. She had a smile that could light up any room and a laugh that was contagious. She was a beautiful gift from God to us and a gift to this world. Danita gave her life to Christ at an early age at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the usher board, in the choir and the praise dance ministries.
Danita graduated from M.B. Smiley High School where she played the clarinet in the marching band, and was inducted into the honor society. Danita received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Prairie View A & M University. She continued to let her light shine in college. She participated in and coordinated step shows, played intramural flag football, was featured in the 1st Annual Diamond Diva Plus Sized Pageant, served on the Student Government Association, and was inducted as a member of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, and that just to name a few of her activities.
Since graduating, she has dedicated the past 10 years of her life serving others as an educator. She taught 1 year at Shadydale Elementary then traveled oversees and taught in Abu Dhabi. When she returned to the states, she started her own business Devine Sensation, and shortly thereafter joined the Clark Primary team in Spring ISD and for the past 3 years has taught passionately for School of Science and Technology.
Danita departed her earthly journey on August 19, 2020 and is survived by her fiance’: Charles Shaw; son: Charleston Shaw; mother and father: Wille Rufus and Brenda Collins; brothers: Willie (Keisha) Collins, Jr. and Antoine Collins; sisters: Felita (Gregory) White, Karen Collins, Latonya Collins, and Latrice Collins; nieces: Britton Collins, Christine Collins, Makayla White, and MacKenzie Collins, nephews: Dante McClendon and Gregory White, Jr.; her maternal grandmother, uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of family and friends.
