Daniel Elbert Vernon, Jr. was born January 23, 1942 in Bryan, Texas. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 25, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Daniel came to Houston in 1963 where he worked in the grocery business before retiring, and then worked as general maintenance for St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Daniel loved his church home, Gethsemane Lutheran Church, where he had been a member for more than 40 years. And Daniel loved woodworking and made thousands of items to sell or give as gifts in his workshop.
He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel Elbert Vernon, Sr. and Elva (Young) Vernon. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ella (Wiese) Vernon, one son, Nathan Vernon (Kiera) and two grandchildren, Kaelyn and Zachary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Daniel’s name can be directed to Gethsemane Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
