Daniel Leal, 39, was born on July 3, 1973 to parents, Rafael and Antonia Leal in Houston, Texas. On Monday, September 17, 2012 Sergeant Daniel Leal was involved in a fatal motor vehicle accident in Leaky, Texas. Daniel was a graduate from Milby High School in 1991 and earned his Bachelors Degree from Midwestern State. He joined the U.S. Navy the summer after high school in 1991 and was honorably discharged in 1997. Daniel began his career as a peace officer in the fall of 1998 after graduating from the Houston Police academy. He was promoted to Sergeant and was awarded the prestigious Hispanic Officer of the Year award in 2009. Although Sergeant Leal will be remembered as being an excellent police officer, his legacy will be that of a loving father, devoted son and a brother that will always be missed, and never forgotten. He is survived by his two children Ulysses (8), Clarabel (5), his parents Rafael and Antonia, his three brothers Ralph, Angel, David, his ex-wife Grisel and eight nieces and nephews. “The heavens will not be filled with those who never made mistakes but with those who recognized that they were off course and who corrected their ways to get back in the light of gospel truth.” Dieter F. A visitation is will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2012 from 5-9pm with a 7pm Rosary to be recited at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012 at 11am at Forest Park Lawndale’s Main Chapel with burial immediately following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
