Daniel “Danny” Lee Byrd, 79, of Humble, Texas passed into eternal rest on June 25, 2022. Danny was born on August 26, 1942 in Monticello, Mississippi, but spent his youth in Brookhaven, Mississippi. As a teen, he moved to live in Sheldon and attended C.E. King High School until he left to help support his family. In 1960, he joined the US Army and eagerly became a paratrooper. When his military service ended, he returned to Sheldon and worked for Texas Aluminum Industries as a laborer and worked his way through the company to become a Service Center Manager. Danny maintained a working relationship with Texas Aluminum Industries for over forty years not only as an employee but as a customer when he began his own business, Byrd’s Aluminum, which he managed until health issues forced him into retirement in 2010. All that know Danny know that he was a wonderful advisor, highly disciplined, and loved working.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dan Byrd and Sherry Dee Butler, and his loving wife Cathy. Left to cherish and honor his memory is son Daniul and daughter-in-law Felicia, their children Daniul Lee Byrd & Hannah Anderson and Christopher & Ruby Byrd. Great-grandchildren Zalalia Estrada, Evan Byrd, and Natalie Byrd. Niece Terri Dodson; great-niece Leslie Dodson and great-nephew John Dodson. Nephew Allen Jordan as well as his two sisters, Chris Fowler, of Rogers, AR and Sheila Delaughter, of Brookhaven, MS.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039. There will be additional visitation time on July 6 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in lieu of a formal service. The family will have a procession leaving the funeral home at 11:15 AM to graveside service. Interment will be at Brookside Memorial Park.
