Dalila “Dolly” Ortiz was invited into the Kingdom of Heaven on August 15, 2016, after suffering irreparable complications from a fall. She joins her husband David, sister Delia, and grandson Duran in eternal peace. Dolly’s life was full of service and love to God, her family, and her community. She raised three sons: David, Daniel, and Dale, and she worked as a Metro Police Officer until her retirement in 1997. She was a mighty warrior who remained strong throughout her battle with cancer this year. She kept her Bible nearby at all times, and she gave Him all the glory when she was finally cancer-free. Dolly loved kittens, word puzzles, and banana pudding. Her 11 grandchildren will tell stories to her 7 great-grandchildren about summers with Grandma and Grandpa in Galveston. Her surviving sister, Marina, and many nieces and nephews will definitely remember all of that charisma Dolly had. Our grandma was loved, and she knew it. And as she would be saying right now, “That’s the main thing!”
