Dale Allen Kincaid, passed away on Wednesday, January 25, at the age of 83. After suffering a stroke a week earlier, Dale died peacefully with his beloved wife Jan and sons Mike and Scott by his side.
Born in Long Beach, California on July 1, 1939, to John and Pauline Kincaid. An only child, Dale joined the US Air Force in 1961 and became a navigator on KC135s. He eventually found himself attending navigator school in Waco, Texas where he met Janet Sue Arrington in May 1963. Married in her hometown, Harlingen, TX on June 27, 1964, they spent their honeymoon driving to an air station in Bangor, Maine.
After he got out of the Air Force in 1968, he finished his bachelors in Accounting and an MBA at Long Beach State (“undefeated in football” was one of his favorite sayings - they don’t have a football team). He served in different auditing jobs in California before moving the family to The Woodlands in 1983. He spent time as a realtor for Woodlands Realty before rejoining the ranks of auditors with stints at the Texas State Auditors Office and the University of Houston.
After both Dale and Jan retired in 2000, they significantly increased the amount of time spent traveling in their RV. They managed to explore every state except North Dakota while visiting long time friends and making new friends along the way. They spent 5 summers in Colorado enabling many lasting memories with grandkids and friends. His “love language” was acts of service through Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity and helping others through the church. He enjoyed backpacking, tennis, golf and taking grandkids fishing!
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Lauren. He is survived by his wife Janet Arrington Kincaid; sons Michael (Holly) and Scott (Jennifer); and grandchildren: Sara (Clayton), David, Nathan, Cameron, Jordan, and Kate.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 10am, Tuesday, January 31 at Woodlands Methodist Church. A committal service will take place on Monday, February 13, at Houston National Cemetery at 1:15pm. Friends wishing to honor Dale’s quiet way of helping others can make donations to the Society of St. Stephen at the Woodlands Methodist Church.
