Dale Gene Johnson

Born in Rusk, TX on 12-April-1937 to Merle Strahan Johnson and Clyde Johnson (their only child) in Rusk, Texas.

Dale graduated from Humble High School and later in life continued his studies at the University of Houston completing 60 credit hrs.

He was married to Shirley Joann (Jody) on 25-Oct-1954. They were married for forty-nine years at the time of her passing.

Dale started as a machinist apprentice at Reed Roll-a-Bit and completed his manufacturing career as a Tool-and-die-maker at Cleco Air Tools. He was elected to a Representative position for the International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers where he served two terms. Dale went on to become a Commissioner for the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service. After serving many years he retired and became a Labor Arbitrator.

Dale was also very active in his personal life. He was an avid gun collector and member of a fast-draw gun club and was the Texas State gun twirling champion for several years. He also tried his hand at bee keeping for a while establishing as many as fifty hives at one point. Over the years he also managed to acquire several rental properties.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Jody, and son Sandy Ray

He is survived by his son, Ricky Gene Johnson and Wife, Rebecca of Spring. Daughter, Kathy Taylor and husband, Scott of New Caney and Daughter Kerry Lairmore and husband Robert (Rob) of New Caney.

Grandchildren: Chris, Eric, Brian, Elizabeth, Melissa, Jeffrey, Brandon, Matt, Loretta, Alex, Amy and eighteen (18) great grandchildren.

A visitation for Dale will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 10:00 AM, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A burial will occur Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039.

Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Johnson, Scott Taylor, Robert Lairmore, Matt Troncalli, Robert McCranie, Drew Makowsky, Charles (Charlie) Taylor, Charles (C.J.) Taylor Jr. and Dakota Jones.
