Hoang Van Dai was born on September 6, 1938 from parents Hoang Van Liec and Le Thi Chuong in Quang-Tri, Vietnam. He was the only son and youngest of eight siblings. At the age of 21, he joined the Marine Corp (Thuy Quon Luc Chien, Tieu Doan 3) in Thu Duc, Vietnam to fight for democracy for Vietnam with the help of the United States. Dai met his wife, Thanh Thi Nguyen and married in December 30, 1967 and had 6 children (3 boys and 3 girls). They moved the family to the United States in 1975 where he worked as a successful food caterer for many years. He had a passion for life, and expressed his visions of beauty through his delicious cuisines, beautifully crafted artwork and expressive music. His various artistic talents have influenced and inspired the lives of his children as well as his grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, his seven children: Phuong, Chau, Ngoc, Thuy, Binh, Thao, and Hien, eleven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. The viewing will be held at The Chapel of Eternal Peace on Thursday and Friday from 9am to 9pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Justin Martyr on Saturday Nov. 5th at 10am.
