Cynthia Irene Smith was born January 28, 1953, to the late Burnett clay and Gus Woodson. Cynthia met her husband Pastor Danny Smith in Crosby, Texas. At the Crosby #1 Church of God in Christ Church. They were married July 21, 1980, in Houston, Texas. Cynthia was in retail for 25 years. She retired and went into full time ministry with her husband. In 2004, they started Covent Word of God Church .Later renamed Covenant Word of Faith Ministry. She was known as a strong and true prophet of God. She has given much and touched many lives. Constantly praying, and seeking the Lord for guidance and instruction. Humbly doing the work of God. Her love for people was legendary. She never met a stranger. When God spoke to her she moved. Always graceful, humble,and beautiful there will never be another. She often said that she was born to praise God. All of you that knew her have witnessed SHE PRAISED GOD.Cynthia Smith was preceded in death by her mother, Burnett Clay; and her father, Gus Woodson. Her sons, Keith Clay and Shawn Woodson; her sisters, Annette Woodson and Gwendolyn Thompson. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: husband, Pastor Danny Smith of Covenant Word of Faith Ministry. Daughters: Tierra Charles and Tachia Smith; son: David Smith. Grandchildren: Deidra Austin, Desiree Austin, Antonio Austin, Jr., Krystal Clay, Kathrine Luckey, and Martha Marie Smith. Great-grandchildren, Noah Citizen and Ayden Manning. Her sister, Sharon Barnes. Nieces, Courtney Bess and Annette Beaty. Her nephews, Bryan Beaty and Correy Barnes. Great-nephew, Devyn Beaty. A host of uncles, aunts nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation for Cynthia will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Paradise Funeral Home, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM. The committal at Houston National Cemetery will occur Monday, September 11, 2023 from 10:45 AM to 11:00 AM 10401 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
