Curtis Ledet was born at home on August 7,1927 in the community of Mallet, Louisiana to Celestin Ledet and Victoria Semien-Ledet. He was the second child of six children born to this union. God called him home on July 23, 2018.
Curtis, affectionately known to relatives and close friends in Louisiana as “Blue”, received his grade school education in a one-room schoolhouse in Frilot Cove. After completing the 7th Grade, in order to help support his family, he worked fulltime on the farm with his family and other families who needed assistance. In 1945, Curtis was drafted into the military. He served his country during World War II in the Infantry Division of the United States Army located in the Aleutian Islands. After his tour of duty, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He returned to Louisiana to marry the love of his life, Alveretta Theresa Frilot. They were married on November 18,1950 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Plaisance, Louisiana.
Mourning his departure, but cherishing his memory are five children: Sheliah Auzenne (Alvin), Michael Ledet (June), Carey Ledet (Yvonne), Sharon Sylvie (Perry) and Carmela Ledet; eight grandchildren: Techer Washington, Raina Balthazar (Vergil), Rachael Williams (Arion), Jeremy Ledet (Karon), Heather Blount (Andre’), Desiree’ Ledet, Erin Sylvie (Clay) and Jerrien Johnson; ten great grandchildren: Kaleb Blount, Gervon Williams, Jaidyn Lacy, Kailyn Ledet, Michael Ledet, Leighton Malonson, Presley Malonson, Zayden Williams, Aaron Agapito-Ledet, Brennan Malonson; one sister: Rosena Perkins; one sister-in-law: Daisy Frilot; special life long friends: Elizabeth and Paul Williams, Murphy Guillory,
Sherman Cravins, Henry Frilot; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Curtis was preceded in death by his wife: Alveretta Theresa Frilot-Ledet; parents: Celestin Ledet and Victoria Semien-Ledet; brothers: Felton Ledet and Chester Ledet; sisters: Lula Mae Ledet, Louelda Johnson and Irene Thibodeaux; great granddaughter, Zana Washington; and first wife: Dorothy Guillory-Ledet.
