Cornelio was born in Agualeguas, N.L., Mexico on April 23, 1933. Cornelio was married to Carolina Salinas on December 28, 1963; they were married 59 years.
Cornelio is survived by his wife Carolina; daughter Rosa Flores and husband Ernie; his son Cornelio Herrera Jr. and wife Esther; daughter Leticia Haney and husband Scott; his grandchildren Frank Zayas, Angel Herrera and wife Kristina, Isaac Ybarbo, Alexandria Ybarbo, Jackie Ybarbo and fiancé Juan, Carolina Gonzales and Aden Haney; his great grandchildren Arianna Herrera, Jordan Herrera, Aaliyah Zayas and Anastacia Herrera; his sister Rafaela Herrera Molina, and her spouse Nicacio; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Cornelio is preceded in death by his parents Jovita and Cornelio Herrera; his five brothers and two sisters; and his daughter Maria Teresa Ybarbo.
Cornelio worked for many years as a Crane Operator in Chicago, IL before moving his family to Houston in 1979, and continued to be a Crane Operator for many more years. He enjoyed taking pictures and filming movies of his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, was part of a CB Radio Club and loved watching his favorite team, the Astros. He was also actively involved and served at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Cornelio was a man of few words, but he was a hard worker, a great provider and a dedicated family man, father, son, uncle, grandpa and great grandpa. We will cherish the memories with him always.
A visitation for Cornelio will be held Monday, November 21, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Crespo Navigation, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A rosary service will occur Monday, November 21, 2022 from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A visitation will occur Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, 2516 Navigation Blvd., Houston, TX 77003. A committal service will occur Tuesday, November 22, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at South Park Cemetery, 1310 N Main St, Pearland, TX 77581.
