On December 4, 1925, Cora Lee Teamer Boyd was born to Mr. Eddie Teamer & Mrs. Ethel Hill Teamer. She accepted the Lord as her savior at the age of 12. She attended Bruce Elementary School. Cora graduated from Phyllis Wheatley High School in 1944. As a young woman, she enjoyed participating in many church activities, such as Sunday School, Y. P. W. W., Senior Choir, and was a founding member of Buck Street COGIC's first musical group, The Buck Street Choral Club, which performed many times on the Local Radio station. Later she worked as a dedicated member of the Mission Department, also helping to start the Buck Street pantry under the leadership of the late Pastor Charles A. Harrison. She became Vice-President of the Mission Department and then became President of the Mission Department and stayed at that post until her demise. Cora enjoyed working in the yard, planting flowers, roses, and even some vegetables. She loved to cook for her family, and was well known within her family for her "sweet potato pies." On November 22, 1946, Cora was united in holy matrimony to the late Elder John Wesley Boyd Sr. One year later a bouncing baby boy came along. They named him John Wesley Boyd, Jr. Her first child and only son, John Wesley, preceded her in death in 2010. Cora second child and eldest daughter, Ruth Elaine Boyd Ellison preceded her in death in 2015. She leaves to rejoice, not mourn her memory, daughters, Gwendolyn Anne Boyd, and Catherine Elizabeth Boyd, grandchildren are as follows: J Wesley Boyd III (Denita), Chaunita Johnell Boyd Harrison (Derek), Cedric Oliver Boyd, and Stephanie Elaine Ellison. Great Grandchildren: Christian Boyd, Charity Boyd, and Jaquai Davis, God-daughter Penny Glenn, special family friends Bobby Mainer & Carolyn Sion and a large bounty of family & friends.
