Colleen Taylor Miles

Colleen Taylor Miles passed at home in Houston surrounded by her family on Tuesday morning August 10, 2021 at the age of 85. Colleen was born on March 30th in 1936 to Mamie Lucille Davis Taylor and Darrell Marcus Taylor. She is the older sibling to brothers Darrell Marcus Taylor (living) and Roy Lynn Taylor (deceased).

She was a native Texan, born and raised in Houston where she attended Stephen F. Austin High School where she always had a sense of humor and a calm demeanor (which comes into play when she gets married later as can be attested by her children).

She graduated from Lillie Jolly School of Nursing in 1957 when she started her calling and nursing career that lasted for 3 years in Crowley, Louisiana and 47 years in Houston, Texas until she retired in 2014 at the age of 78. Most of her time in nursing was working the night shift (11 pm to 7 am). She told her son, Brad, once that the reason she liked the night shift was that there were no snot-nosed MBA types "such as myself" at the hospital during that time and so it was pure nursing.

During Nursing School, she met, fell in love and in 1957 married this crazy small town Louisiana boy named Bert Miles where they were married for 63 years. She is survived by her husband Bert Miles, their children Brad and Tracy Miles and grandchildren Preston and Kendall Miles.
