Clyde Daniel Lackey was born in Beaumont, Texas on November 5, 1933 to Clyde Myrick Lackey and Lena Franklin McAlister Lackey. He passed away on June 28, 2017 in Tomball, Texas. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in Houston in 1952 and was a member of the Forensics Society, Bowling Club, and held the position of Corporal in the ROTC. He worked for Prudential Insurance Company for 38 years where he met the love of his life, Julia Lee Lewis Rusche. They were married on June 26, 1976, recently celebrating 41 years of marriage. After retiring in 1991, Clyde and Julia moved to Hockley, Texas in 1999, where he spent his remaining years.
In different seasons of his life, Clyde loved to bowl, ride motorcycles, race boats, build and fly RC model airplanes, coach girls’ softball, and tinker with cars. He enjoyed sports of all kinds and was a season ticket holder for the Houston Oilers and over the last 14 years for the Houston Texans.
Clyde was a family man and a devoted, faithful husband. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren brought him much joy. Some of his fondest memories were being a softball coach for his daughters and attending air shows with his sons. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren at soccer games, dance recitals, piano recitals, and school plays. Clyde was a simple man who loved the Lord and his family.
Mr. Lackey is survived by his loving wife Julia Lee Lackey; daughters Cheryl Lynne Stewart of Katy, TX, Lisa Suzanne Lackey of Tomball, TX, Stacey Lee Lackey and wife Cheri Lee Lackey of Richmond, TX; sons Lee Wayne Lackey and wife Kimberly Diane Lackey of Cypress, TX, Daniel Patrick Lackey and wife Desiree Lynn Lackey of Humble, TX; grandchildren Shawn Prentiss Stewart, Kristen DeAnne Baxter, Kayla LeAnn Lackey, Kelsey Breanne Lackey, Dax Aaron Lackey, and Deanna Rose Lackey; great grandchildren Presley Ann Barnett and Shawn Preston Stewart; as well as several nieces, a nephew, and extended family and friends.
