Clyde William Buster Davis, loving father and brother, died peacefully in his sleep on November 30, 2018 of late-stage Alzheimer’s disease. Buster, as he was known to friends and family, was born in Houston, Texas, April 6, 1945, the first son of Clyde William Davis and Helen Johanna Elizabeth (Muller) Davis. He grew up in Idylwood on Sylvan Road, where he loved playing baseball as a little league pitcher and 3rd baseman. Buster played the bass drum and was the Captain of the Mighty Mustang Marching Band at Stephen F. Austin High School, where he graduated in 1963. He also enjoyed playing the clarinet and bassoon. Buster received his B.B.A. from the University of Texas. After college, he dedicated his career to computer science, working in mainframe design and system engineering for over 40 years. His work took him across the country, most notably in the years leading up to “Y2K”, but he always called Houston home. In addition to his work, Buster loved leisure traveling, riding both Amtrak and narrow-gauge trains, driving fast cars (slowly), and playing poker with his friends. He also remained active with his High School reunion committee. Buster is survived by his loving and devoted son and daughter, Jeffrey R. Davis and Kelly E. (Davis) Beazley; his twin grandchildren, Morgan and Zoe; his three younger brothers, Robert (Bob), William (Bill), and Frank (Buddy) Davis; his cousins Diane (Muller) Haight, and Gary and Carl Muller; and his many cherished nieces and nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, Chapel of Angels, on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. Please also join the Facebook group “In Memory of Buster” to share photos and memories.
