Inez was born December 8, 1927 in Flynn, Texas to Adair and Janie Murff and passed away in Conroe, Texas on January 21, 2022 at the age of 34,378 days; which is 94 years, 1 month and 13 days . She grew up in the Flynn / Normangee area along with her four siblings. On July 12, 1947 Inez married Herschell David Riley, Sr. and they joyfully started their family.
Inez loved being a homemaker, giving herself to the care of her children and joyfully embracing the activities that made her children and husband feel happy and cared for. She was a ballpark momma, enjoyed camping and fishing, loved taking trips and visiting old friends and family.
Inez cherished her children with a sacrificial love and while she didn’t have an abundance of Earthly resources to lavish on them, she knew how to appropriate the resources of Heaven on their behalf.
Once her children were older her love for people motivated her to work outside the home. Inez was excited about working at Montgomery Ward where she made numerous friends and excelled as a Sales Associate leading the company year after year in the sales of boats, guns and sporting goods. Inez also volunteered for numerous ministries who became the beneficiary of her charming and contagious personality.
Inez is preceded in death by her parents William Adair and Janie Murff; her husband Herschell David Riley, Sr.; siblings W.A. Murff, Cecil Rae Berry and Esther Byrd.
Inez is survived by her sister Patricia Little; children, Linda Gail and her husband Gary Cobb; Shirley Ann and her husband Ronnie Davis; Marilyn Sue and her husband Hank Marion; Herschell David Riley, Jr. and his wife Terry; Joni Jane and her husband Mike Byrd; and James Barton Riley and his wife Wendy. 16 Grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
All those who knew Inez are thankful to the Lord for having the privilege of being impacted by her love, humor and kindness. She spoke of and placed her confidence in the Lord Jesus because of a faith introduced to her by her parents William Adair and Janie Murff. She regularly talked about Jesus and knew Him in a personal way.
So while we have sorrow in our hearts, we also have confidence that we will hear Inez’s voice, see her face and laugh with her through all eternity.
A memorial service for Clovis will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at New Haven House of Prayer, 6262 Creekside Green, Woodlands, TX 77389.
