It is with heavy hearts that we bid a final farewell to Mr. Clifford “Cliff” Ira Rosner, 79, of Houston, Texas, who departed our world on April 20, 2022. He is fondly remembered for his lively sense of humor, intelligence, immense kindness, and boundless love for his family. No one will forget his ready supply of movie quotes, business savvy, culinary passions, love of animals and penchant for matchmaking.
Cliff was born on April 11, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of Joseph and Lillian “Billie” Rosner. After graduating from Madison High School in 1959, he went on to earn a degree from Brooklyn College in 1963 at just 20 years-old. His innate gifts in math and business well-positioned him for success in the sales industry. His loveable charm only bolstered his professional performance and networking abilities.
While selling Smith Corona copy machines to a medical office, Mr. Rosner met the love of his life, Judy Carol Puckett. After marrying in 1966, Cliff and Judy started a family and established roots in Houston where Cliff’s career naturally steered him into success in brokerage and investments. In fact, he eventually achieved high-level positions at multiple respected brokerage firms, including Merrill Lynch, Drexel Burnham, Rauscher Pierce, Morgan Keegan, and Lovett Mitchell.
Second only to Henney Youngman for crafting the best one-liners, Cliff was a loyal member of the Houston chapter of the Rotary Club and was even recognized as Rotarian of the Year. He also enjoyed his extensive volunteer work for the local Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Discovering the finest hole-in-the-wall restaurants was his lifelong adventure, and he was known as a chronic “over-orderer” at many of his favorite establishments. A dedicated, forty-year season ticket holder, this faithful Astros fan truly lived for the three Fs: Family, Food, and Fun.
This remarkable man had an inspiring zest for life, which gave him the courage to battle chronic kidney disease so tenaciously over the past few years. Despite these trials, Cliff passed peacefully. He is already sorely missed.
Mr. Rosner is survived by his devoted wife, Judy; three incredible children, Gregory Douglas, Bryan Joseph, and Wendy Michele Byer (Scott); six beautiful grandchildren, Jack Thomas Rosner, Katherine Elizabeth Rosner, Brett Austin Rosner, Madeline Marie Byer, Zoe Michele Byer, and Ethan Scott Byer; and a host of close friends. His legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all who knew him.
Services will be held at 11AM on Monday, May 2nd in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, located at 8303 Katy Freeway in Houston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Houston SPCA or the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.earthmanhunterscreek.com for the Rosner family.
