Wayne is survived by his wife, Beverly Sommermeyer Richardson; children, Clifford Wayne Richardson, Jr. and wife Karen, and Clayton Allen Richardson; siblings, Joyce Crane Davis, Vera Crane Cowart, and Barbara Crane Pierce; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren . He is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mary Richardson, and his son, Clinton Eugene Richardson.
Wayne was born on November 5, 1945 in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Cy-Fair High School in 1965. He married Beverly Sommermeyer, his high school sweetheart, in June of 1965. He is remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, and a wonderful role model who encouraged his family to pursue their goals and treat everyone like family.
Wayne began his career in the grocery industry at Fairbanks Supermarket in 1961. He went on to hold management positions at Lucky Foods (Eagle), Rice Food Market, Sunday House Foods, and culminated his career with 23 years at Acosta Sales and Marketing. His can-do attitude and commitment to the customer contributed to his success in the Texas grocery industry. He was a generous individual who loved spending time with others and who was passionate about working with several Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Go-Texan Committees. He was a member of Foundry United Methodist Church and a member of the Chaparral Cookers.
A visitation is planned from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 24 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Freeway. The funeral will be held at Foundry United Methodist Church (Jones Road) at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 25. Internment will immediately follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Cy-Hope. These funds will provide financial assistance through their Providing Opportunities Program to an FFA student in Cy-Fair ISD.
