Cleo S. (Dodie) Ferguson, loving wife, mother, “Nana” and friend, passed away into the loving arms of the lord on January 10, 2012, after a brief illness. Dodie was born on October 23, 1928, to Edna Wall Stringer and Litt Stringer and was the youngest of seven (7) siblings. She met and married her husband of fifty (50) years at Texas Tech University. She is predeceased by her husband, Tyler A. Ferguson, her son Tyler J. Ferguson, her parents, siblings and many dear friends. Dodie is survived by her daughter, Fran Tennyson and husband Jack and her cherished granddaughters, Megan Poritzky and Jennifer Horn. She is also survived by four (4) step-grandchildren and their families, as well as many nieces and nephews. Dodie was a faithful member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church and sang in the Chancel Choir. She was a caring, giving person who will be missed by her beloved family, many life-long friends and extended family members. A visitation with the family will be held at 9:00a.m., followed by a celebration of Dodie’s life at 10:00a.m., Friday, January 13, 2012, in the Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079. Interment will follow in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in her memory to Chapelwood United Methodist Church, 11140 Greenbay, Houston, Texas 77024, or to the charity of your choice.
