Clara Rose was born October 9, 1936 in Conroe, Texas to Fate Rose and Pearl Jones. She was the third of eleven children. While she was still a toddler, her family moved to a Saw Mill off of Old Beaumont Highway.
After Clara and her family moved to Houston, Texas, she attended Houston Brick and Tile Colored School. As a teenager, she went to live with her older sister, Dorothy, and she attended Atherton School in Fifth Ward on Solo Street.
Accepting Christ as her Lord and Savior, Clara attended Greater Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Houston, Texas, under the leadership of Rev. W. Leo Daniels, for several years.
In 1951, Clara met and married Clifford Nash. To this union seven children were born.
Clara retired in 2004 from Methodist Hospital after 49 years of service.
Clara Rose was preceded in death by her parents – Fate Rose and Pearl Jones; two sons – Clifford Nash, Jr.; and Anthony Nash; granddaughter – Monica Nash; grandson – Carlos Nash; great grandson – Ketrel Brimsey; four sisters – Dorothy Jefferson; Ophelia Cross; Hattie Scott; and Helen Love; three brothers – Willie Miller; Artist Allen; and Arthur Love; and former husband – Clifford Nash, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories – five daughters – Dolores Prince; Doris Nash; Alice Bratton; Joyce Nash; and Carolyn Forest; one son – Leroy Rose (Tammy); one sister – Brenda Coker; two brothers – Mitchell Love; and Manuel Love; 29 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
