This past year has been regrettably hard, far from what I anticipated. My son, Christopher, was an extraordinary man in every sense and we knew from his first breath he would change the world and make it better. I cherish our memories of his unwavering dedication, his selfless service, and his boundless love.  May I forever be reminded how he reached out to those silently suffering from addiction or depression. I’ll do my best to work and pray every day to model his behavior because no one should battle demons alone. Until we meet again, I love you Chris.

I remember being the 3 brothers that were closer than ever. We would get each others backs and always was there for each other  growing up. Thru think and thin and a one of a kind bond, we eventually all grew up and went our ways. It never stopped us from keeping tabs on one another from time to time. And even in the rough times we always seem to be there for each other. I will always remember the times we rode motorcycles, shot guns, climbed trees ( and sometimes falling for them too, lol),  watching Saturday morning cartoons, going out on the boat to swim, plus fish. So many memories of good times and even the bad. Chris was strong and smart, he knew to always do the right thing. He is my hero and always will be. He saved me more times I can count. Love you bro forever.

I met Chris when I was still detoxing off of drugs and he always made time to stop and check on me. Later on in my recovery we would have talks about all kinds of stuff but he particularly delighted in talking about brain chemistry. He helped me understand who I was and who I could be. When I relapsed coming out of the program he was one of 3 people who really stood for me and helped me get to where I am today. Chris kept me from quitting my job time and time again. I know he is looking down and now telling us ALL- Keep going no matter what. 

The night sky got brighter when God took the shining star that is Chris and placed him in the Heavens to shine down upon us all forever.  I will always cherish how Chris would greet me with a big hug and the funny nickname he had for me each time I visited Camp Hope.  His dry wit and sincerity and intensity was such a fascinating combination, one I have never found in another.  I loved talking to him and getting his perspective on different issues.  He just had the kindest heart and the biggest desire to serve, both so obvious in how he interacted with everyone around him.  He loved his family so much.  I pray they one day find peace in their happy memories of him.  My thoughts and prayers are with them all.

Mr. Daniels’ family, 

During a time of distress in my life your loved ones duty and job in life was to help veterans like myself in crisis. I don’t have any intimate experiences with him, however his presence was felt during my time of healing. His passing has come as a shock to me. Even knowing we must all meet our maker. Prayers and condolences to you all. RIP Mr. Daniels.

I have many work memories of Chris; he was my go-to for all things residents and IT in the early days; I met him in 2019. When I knew him, he was compassionate and always on the move. He was always willing to help; he noticed if you were struggling. He took time to make things happen no matter what he was doing. Sometimes I would get a veteran on the phone who needed help. He made sure someone or himself was working with that Veteran. He seemed to know the right things to say at the right time. Most importantly, he cared. I looked at him like a leader. He was also funny, and he could make jokes about anything. When he found something funny, he shared it. When he did something funny, he shared it; He knew the importance of being a team. Whether he was setting up meetings or helping to fix the printer, he gave it his all. I don't know how he did all those things, but I am grateful he was there. I recently got married, and when one of us celebrates something, we all celebrate, so he and his team came together, and they brought me so much joy!!  The same goes for sorrow; we are all hurt when one of us is hurting. I am glad to know that the compassion he had will also go on in all of us at Camp hope. We will continue to reach out and work hard; he would have wanted us to. Love you, Amber and Marcy, and everyone who is feeling this colossal loss. We have your back! 

We at Grateful Americans Charity didn’t know Chris well.  He helped us a few times with our meetings at Camp Hope, and it was clear what a special person he was.  His kind, helpful manner was truly a pleasure to be around.  We will miss you and we’ll keep your family and friends in our prayers.  

I first met Chris when I attended a volunteer dinner, our Sunday School class would provide Thursday night meals. That night changed the level of involvement for me at Camp Hope. I began volunteering for childcare on Thursday nights and eventually became an employee  working with the kids. During that time Chris was always there to help as needed and always solved any problems we had. I know he did so much for the guys getting them set up with the best possible services for the veterans. He was a light in a sometimes dark  world! He will be sorely missed!

I met Chris in the earliest days of my recovery. He was one of the first staff members I met at Camp Hope. I will never forget his guidance and words of encouragement. Chris believed in me when I didn't believe in myself, he gave me chance after chance to get it right and have a better life. When Chris brought Amber and Marcy into his family, he brought them into mine as well. Chris was a part of thousands of veterans recovery and he is missed terribly. Being on this campus since his passing, I feel his spirit every day and I have no doubt that Chris is with our creator. Chris we will continue your legacy and your family is my family. We love you brother.

We always had a great time with Chris and Amber. What I loved the most about or adventures with our babies, was seeing the infinite love he had towards Amber and Marcy. You could instantly tell they were the loves of his life.
I appreciate everything he's done for us, especially for Alex during his time as a Camp Hope resident and we will never forget the good times like the crazy corn maze, the fun but way too hot Easter egg hunt and the most recent, the gender reveal of our baby at the Daniels' home only 10 days ago.
We miss him dearly but we will forever hold these great memories in our hearts and we will make sure his daughter knows what a great man her dad is.

I remember when we lost our first pregnancy he told me God has his reason but he doesn't need to know what it is and that he just needs to trust it even if he doesn't like it. The memory that comes to mind at this moment is when Chris and I lost our first pregnancy what he said to me amazed me he told  me God has his reason and that he doesn't  need to know it and that he  just needs to trust it even if he doesn't  like it. This was Chris he was a man of God. He told me it's not our time but God's time. I love you baby and I promise you that your legacy will live through in your daughter. Thank you for blessing me with a beautiful baby girl. I'll see you again my love.

My family was saddened to hear of the loss of Christopher.  We have had the honor of knowing Chris since was a teenager (when his family moved in across the street from us).  In a very short time, he became a member of our family.  He was the pseudo big brother to our daughter Sydney and he often introduced her as his little sister.  He taught my son Nico how to defend himself from the bullies tormenting him, how to shave and helped him learn how to drive.  We have also had the honor of being part of his son's life as well. Ares Josef Daniel reminds me so much of Chris.  He has the same mischievous grin, his compassion and his sensitivity.  Once we feel Ares won't try some of the dare devil stunts his father did, we will tell him some of those stories...Rest in heaven Christopher, you will certainly be missed.

I met Christopher when I was 9 and he was 13 and moved directly across the street from me. We didn't become friends until we were older, but our friendship developed quickly and deeply.  We would stay up until 6:00 am because Spongebob came on at 5:00 am, he taught me how to stick up for myself,  he opened up his home to me when I needed to leave mine and he would introduce me as his little sister.  The day that his son was born 8 years ago was the best day of my life because I was made "Aunt Syd". I've missed Christopher a lot over the past few years after he moved to Texas to better himself, but I've still been able to enjoy his personality in my nephew. Christopher, I will tell Ares of all of our adventures together (saving the inappropriate ones until he's 18), and I will continue to watch over him as I promised you I would. I love you, brother.

I only know Chris because he continued to serve others. He came to my school on Veteran’s Day 2021 to speak to our staff, students and guest veterans about what it means to be a veteran and share about Camp Hope. He was such a kind man. I will never forget our conversation and how he graciously answered my questions about his military experience and Camp Hope. God Bless you and may you Rest In Peace.  His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. 

I didn’t know Chris for long but everytime I saw him he made sure too check how I was he was always so happy and genuine I hated too hear the news I didn’t know Chris that great but I know he was a great man. R.I.P. Brother

My first memory of Chris, the first day I met Chris he was In a Batman onesie, he had chopped the entire top half of his hair off to create a reverse bowl cut, and within 1 minute of meeting him he showed me his butt tattoo. And introduced me to his skeleton friend. Chris was full of energy and filled the room with joy every where he went. He was always so positive and always had the right outlook on life. Chris you will be missed and you will be loved always, I love you buddy as do many others you have touched. Thank you for the joy you gave me in my life.

The first time I met Chris (and Amber!) it was 9PM on a Sunday and he was in his pajamas as he let me and my husband into his home. We lost power for several hours and I was afraid of losing all of our meat. He didn’t hesitate to open his home (and freezer) to us so late. I knew on my first interaction with him how kindhearted he was. Our world is a little dimmer without him, but I have no doubt that light will shine bright again through Marcy and Amber. 

I loved getting to know Chris when we were younger. He even gave me a ride on his motorcycle to camp with family and friends. You will be missed truly by all Chris!

Chris, you were one of “my guys” — among my first 35 guys when I became Camp Hope’s first campus RN. When you became staff, you did a super job at your work and were so diligent in making things run as smoothly as they could. They couldn’t have done it without you. I’m missing you very much as I have all my guys I’ve lost. See you soon in heaven, sir. Many thanks for your service. Many thanks for your life and thanks be to God for being there to take you home. 

I have so many wonderful memories of my son from childhood to adulthood, he was amazing and believed in God. Helped all those who needed it and finally found his FIT with being an employee at Camp Hope in Houston. I have memories filled with laughter, joy and fun. He taught me how to ride a motorcycle, taught me how to snowboard and taught me how to forgive. My son became a great example to me and all those he met. God called him home Thursday morning. I accept that and will do as he would have wanted, carrying on in helping others.
