A steadfast Texas resident, Cheryl had made the move to live in Newport Beach, California to be closer to family after the event of Hurricane Harvey. Born on the 31st of May 1943, to Nadine and Benjamin Coffman of Houston, Cheryl was a graduate of Milby High School and worked for Exxon where she met her husband of 25 years, George Myer Coryell, Jr. Together they created a family focused on faith, unconditional love for one another and fun. Known for her style and sharp wit, Cheryl approached life with the strength and dignity all have come to respect in her.
She was preceded in death by her husband and will be forever missed by her son, George Myer Coryell III and his wife Lavinia, and their son George IV; as well as her daughter, Cristin Coryell Gianulias and her husband David, and their children Charles and James. A devoted grandmother, "Sweet Pea" was adored by her grandchildren for her humor, sense of adventure and spoiling them unapologetically.
A celebration of her humble and faithful life will be celebrated on Wednesday, the 7th of July, in the Hankamer Chapel of Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive in Houston, where Dr. Ben Young, Pastor, is to officiate.
Prior to the service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception at a venue to be announced during the services.
In the true spirit of Cheryl's heart, she asks that memorial contributions be directed to Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway Drive, Houston, TX, 77056.
