Charlotte grew up in Oklahoma City as the youngest of 2 daughters. In 1946 while attending Classen High School, she met a handsome boy named Samuel Bounds. They fell in love and were married 7 years later. They soon moved to Big Springs, Texas, while Sam was enlisted in the Air Force. In 1954 they had their first child, Jeffrey. A few years later, Sam took a job with Gulf Oil Co. and moved to Houston, Texas, where they welcomed their second child Barbara, in1958. In 1962, the family moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Charlotte came to know the Lord there, in a home Bible Study. She was 33. She discovered this bible verse; John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
She took that to heart, and it changed her life. After a few years in Atlanta, they moved back to Houston where they stayed for many years raising their children.
Charlotte joined College Park Baptist Church and soon began bible study, volunteering, working in the church office, and decorating the library windows for holidays and special events.
In 1984 she moved with her husband and son from Houston to Sugarland, Texas, where she continued her volunteer work at her beloved church.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Ennis Guest, her father, Everett, and her mother, Grace. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Sam, her two children, Jeff Bounds and Barbara Bounds Delaney, her grandchildren, Jack Delaney and Annie Delaney Dees, two great granddaughters, and her nieces, Susan Guest Puffer and Mary Ann Guest Jarvis.
She will be greatly missed but the love she had for her faith and family will continue to live in our hearts forever.
Charlotte’s family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the people at Sundale Sr. Living Memory Care, who took such loving care of her for the six years she resided there.
