Deacon Charlie White Jr. was born on September 3, 1932 to Allie McClure White and Charlie White Sr. in Hermanville, MS. Charlie made his transition from earth on October 20, 2020 at the Memorial Herman Hospital in Pearland, TX.
Charlie was number seven of eleven children: seven boys and four girls. He joined Mountro Grove Baptist Church at a young age. As a young man, he worked with his parents and siblings on a farm.
Charlie attended Flyhill School in Hermanville, MS. In 2001, he enrolled in the Houston Read Commission Learning Center. His purpose was to learn how to read better so that he could read the Holy Bible. There he met Major Lee P. Brown and Jose Grinan from Fox 26.
As an adult, Charlie moved to Houston, TX. He remained in Houston until God called him home. Charlie worked as a welder at A.B. Chance and United Structures of America before he retired in 1997. United Structures of America awarded Charlie with a Certificate of Award for Perfect Attendance in 1993, 1995, 1996 and 1997, in addition to a Safety Award in 1993.
Charlie White was married to the love of his life, wife Rosalinda (Rosie) White, on December 27, 1998. The ceremony was officiated by Pastor Ira Gamble at Little Zion Baptist Church in Brookshire, TX.
He was the father of one son; Clay Milton (Pamela) White of Houston, TX, and the grandfather of six grandchildren; Stacy Frederick (Oneil), Milton Clay, Clacy, Lacole, Catherine White-Suarez (Tristan) and Nariah and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Charlie has two daughters and two grandsons by marriage; Marivel Coty and Amalia Molly Hernandez and two grandsons; Ronnie Dale Fixico Jr. (Sulie) and Michael Anthony Martinez Jr. (Juliana)
Charlie became a member at Little Zion Baptist Church in Brookshire, TX in 1997 under the Leadership of Pastor Ira Gamble. Charlie followed Pastor Ira and Mother Virginia Gamble to Fresno Mt. Corinth Baptist Church, where he became a member on June 30, 2002 under the Leadership of Pastor Rev. Dr. Abraham Holt III. Charlie received the Certificate of Honor for excellence in Service of Trustee on October 26, 2003 from Fresno Mt. Corinth Baptist Church. Charlie was appointed as Chairman of the Deacon Board, which he held until his passing.
Charlie’s parents, Alice and Charlie Sr., preceded him in death as well as his five brothers and three sisters; Robert White, Eugene White, Jimmy White, John White, Alonzo White, Myrtle T. Walker, Johnnie Ruth Smith and Alice Walker.
He leaves to cherish his memories sister Willie A. Burrell of Hermanville MS, brother Deacon Cleo White (Voncile) Detroit Michigan, and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.
Charlie was the father and grandfather figure for Milton’s siblings by his first wife Vivian. They are two sisters: Dorothy Holcomb (Steve deceased) and Wanda “Faye” Bailey (deceased); and one brother JD Thompson (Rosalie).
Grandchildren: Charlie or “Grandpa”, as he is affectionately known, nurtured and raised Rosalind Kinsey (Horace) and Detra Posey (Don). There are six grand and eight great-grandchildren amongst Milton’s siblings.
May Charlie’s legacy live on in all of us. Many times, I heard people tell him “When I grow up I want to be just like you”. God does not bring you through eighty-eight years of life without you leaving your footprints for others to follow! He was the love of my life and the man with a fashion statement.
