Charles Norman "Scooter" Wortham passed away on June 24, 2024, at the age of 79 in Woodlands, Texas. Born on January 30, 1945, Charles served his country with distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from April 13, 1970, through November 15, 1971.
Following his military service, Charles embarked on a successful career spanning several decades. He worked at Todd Shipyard, was a member of IBEW Local Union 716, owned and operated Electro-Comm Systems, and later became an Electrical Superintendent at Reliant Center Park. His professional life was marked by dedication and a commitment to excellence in every role he undertook.
Outside of his professional and military commitments, Charles, affectionately known as Scooter, had a passion for cooking and enjoyed exploring food from various cultures. He also cherished traveling and trips to Las Vegas, where he indulged his love for gambling. During his childhood he was not fond of cats, however in the last year he stated, "he was starting to love their kitten named baby".
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Anna Wortham; daughter and son-in-law Kristy and Dan Allen; granddaughter Kourtney Villegas; great-grandchildren Jakob and Jaxon Villegas; sisters and brothers-in-law Charlotte and Joe Pat Smith, Deborah and Dich Roos; brother-in-law Leslie Lewis and Margaret Reyna; sister-in-law Karen Hammond; and family members Jodi Baysden and family, Stefanie Barosh and family, Stacey Heck and family, Chris Lewis and family, Ashley Lubbers and family, Sheannon Franklin and family, Brandy Soliz and family. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doris Laverne Dawson and Charlie Stephen Wortham, and his sons, Erik Charles Wortham and Grady Stephen Grayson.
The Brookside Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Houston, Texas will be assisting the family during this time. Charles's life and service will be commemorated in a manner befitting his significant contributions and the profound impact he had on those around him. His legacy of strength, love, and generosity will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
Serving as pallbearers are, Everado Luna, Mike Turner, Ken Clevenger, Jakob Villegas, Jaxon Villegas, and Dan Allen.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are friends for life, Sam Meyer (ex husband), Mike Beezley (ex son in law), and Josh Villegas (ex Grand-Son in law). We are a truly blended family and remain in each others lives.. and hope more families learn to live our way for your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Charles will be held Monday, July 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039, followed by a committal service at 3:00 PM.
