Charles was born August 5, 1933 in Houston, Texas, to Doris and Helen Williams. He was the second of three children. He attended Jack Yates High School until his family financial situation required him to drop out to go to work. When he became of age, he joined the U.S. Army and became a Private and was then sent to Germany. There, he served his country for four years with distinction. He received an honorable discharge at the end of his service. In 1962, he met and married Alice Carl (deceased) and to this union were born two children: Michael and Katrina Williams. Charles grew up in the finest tradition of the Christian faith. The late Reverend Pleasant, Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, baptized him at age 12. Over many years he was a dedicated and active member of the church congregation. In later years he and his beloved wife joined Greater St. Matthew Church. Consequently, he and Alice instilled in their children the belief in God and reverence in the ideal to be successful in life’s pursuits and strive to be decent and caring individuals. He was also blessed with four grandchildren: Aspen Williams, Aretavious Wynne, Kenyetta and Kaia Williams. Charles indeed was an energetic hardworking person dedicated to making sure his family always had a comfortable, secure and loving home. He lived long enough to witness his children to become successful in their chosen professional aspirations and goals as follows: Michael (son) received his BA degree and is a teacher in the Houston Independent School District. Katrina (daughter) received special training and is a professional medical assistant/technician/specialist, working very closely with medical doctors in Houston. Also, Aretavious (grandson) received an Associate’s and Bachelor’s degree from ITT Technical Institute and is now a computer tech specialist. His granddaughters (Kenyetta) and (Kaia) are still in high school. In addition to his immediate children and grandchildren, he also leaves his closest relatives: Dr. Dorris Williams (brother) of White Plains, New York, Ms. Patsy J. Leonard (sister) of Houston, Texas and Ms. Ruby Joyce Barnett (first cousin) of Oakland, California, to mourn his transition.
