Charles was born on April 26, 1929 and raised in Kansas City, MO. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he attended Baylor University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business in 1958. He returned to Kansas and in 1968 he moved to Houston and started Medical Dental Management, Inc. He recently sold his business and planned to retire on November 1, 2013.
At an early age Charles accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. He was a faithful follower of Christ and active member in his Church throughout his life.
Charles thoroughly enjoyed fishing, especially in Canada, but his true passion was bringing the family together.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Lee, only son, Ronald, and brother, Al Rimmel. He is survived by his wife Bonnie Rimmel; daughters Juanita Atkins (husband Roger) and Lynnet Pettepher (husband Barry); and stepdaughters Kellie Gross (husband Keith) and Mollie Butler (husband Steve). His grandchildren are Avery Merrifield, Angela Atkins (fiancé Cale Lancaster), Jason Montegut, Wyatt Merrifield, Alyssa Sparks (husband James), Tara Montegut, BM3 Cole Merrifield, Adrienne Atkins, Daniel Butler, Katelyn Gross, and Patrick Butler. He is survived by his “Sis” Shirley Springer (husband Jim) and sister-in-law Nancy Rimmel.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2013 from 5-7pm at Brookside Funeral Home-Cypress Creek. The funeral will be held at Second Baptist Church in the Sanctuary, 6400 Woodway, Houston (77057), Friday October 11 at 11:00 AM.
The family extends a special thank you to the VITAS Hospice nurses. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Baylor University in memory of Charles Rimmel for the Ronald E. Rimmel Memorial Scholarship.
