Charles grew up in the historic 5th Ward in Houston,Tx and attended Phyllis Wheatley High School. While there he was a member of the school’s football team and track team.
After graduation he worked for different companies finally settling as a truck driver for many years, and lastly as an owner of his own company O’Bryant Tree Service. Everyone he worked with knew that he took his job serious, and will always be remembered as a hard working cowboy.
Charles loved his horses, hunting and his family and dared anyone to mess with either one. He was a loving father, grandfather and friend. Charles lived a full life of love, hard work and time spent with those he cared the most about. Although he never officially joined a church he always believed in God and was grateful for his many blessings.
Charles was called home on November 7, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents Mollie and Joe O’Bryant, sisters Ollie White, Willie Mae Powell, Gwendolyn Thompson, Laurine Perkins, Versie Moten and Eddie Walker, brothers Joe O’Bryant Jr. and Ernest O’Bryant. He leaves to cherish his memories: all of his sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
