Charles Jack Nelson Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on April 10th 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents Ida and Charles Nelson Sr. and brothers; George L. Nelson, Kenneth Nelson, and Thomas Nelson. He is survived by his only son, Charles Jack Nelson III and also numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was born in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania in 1933 to the late Ida Hamilton and Charles Jack Nelson Sr. Once he turned 18 Charles enlisted in the army and traveled to many different areas. While in the army he served in the Korean War where he served as an Army Corps Engineer E7, he also lived in Texas, Oklahoma, Alaska, Germany, Vietnam, and Thailand. Once retired he became a member of the Lawton, Oklahoma Mason group. Charles was an avid game show watcher and when he wasn’t watching his shows he was enjoying basketball, football, and baseball.
A visitation for Charles will be held Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77079. A committal service will follow Thursday, April 19, 2018 at 12:45 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038.
