Charles L. (Charlie) Lange, age 80, went to be with his Lord on July 29, 2016. Charlie was born in Houston in 1935 and was a true native son. He went to Hogg Jr. High School, Reagan Sr. High, and graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA degree in 1958. He went on to have a successful career in oil field services until he retired.
Charlie was a deeply religious man who held the Lord to be first and foremost in his life. He was a long time member of Grace Bible Church where he attended services every Sunday. Charlie was also one of the sweetest, kindest persons who ever lived. He never met a dog he didn’t like and had many canines during his life. He was also a hard worker. He was an Eagle Scout at age 13, played football at Hogg and Reagan (where he was a Tri-Captain), and “majored” in “Frontier Fiesta” while he was at the University of Houston. At the U of H, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Along the way, he found time to be in the U.S. Airforce Reserves and loved jumping out of airplanes. Until the end of his life, he was a regular attendee (with his dear wife and fellow alum) of Reagan class reunions. Charlie also had a love for railroads and spent many hours studying railroad history and model railroading. He never got to build the layout he dreamed of but will surely have one in heaven. Charlie was also a student of history and read extensively.
Charlie was predeceased by his mother Millie M. Lange, his father Charles F. Lange, and his step son Michael H. Lackey. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Shirley W. Lange, his step daughters Lynee Bannahan and Vicki Johnston, his daughter-in-law Judy Lackey, and grand children Mark Lackey and Page Lackey.
A service will be held at the Robert L. Waltrip Memorial Chapel at Texas Liberty Mausoleum, Monday August 1, 2016 at 11:00am with the Reverend david Dunn officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to The Wounded Warriors Foundation.
