A Houston native and lifelong Houstonian, Charles graduated from John H. Reagan High School in Houston, TX in 1958. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Chemical Engineering and was a member of Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honors Fraternity. Charles married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane, in August, 1963.
For 9 years, C.J. worked for Monsanto, and later for Tenneco. He made a dramatic change to his career path in 1972 when he decided to work in the financial industry. With this decision, he truly found his passion, and created his life's work building long-lasting relationships with his clients and his colleagues - all of whom, he genuinely considered as friends. Charles worked in the financial industry for 50 years; and early on, he partnered with Larry DeHay. The pair worked together serving their clients for over 40 years. C.J.'s work was something that he was deeply passionate about and he worked up until the day he passed.
Charles is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Lamonte, daughter Laura Lamonte Hayden; his grandchildren: Meghan Lamonte, Noah Hayden, Jackson Hayden, Kirby Hayden; and great-grandchild Rowley Jean . Charles's passing was preceded by his son, Charles "Chuck" James Lamonte, III; and by his parents, Charles James Lamonte and Carrie Shaw Lamonte.
A visitation with the family for Charles will be held Friday, May 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77024. A graveside service following funeral service Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Hollywood Cemetery, 3506 N. Main Street, Houston, TX 77009.
