I love you pawpaw with all of my heart. I am sorry to be writing so very late, but I just miss running into your house and seeing you and mawmaw on a daily basis. We all love and miss you very much.

Dear Pat and Family,
I just saw this obit for Charlie and am so sorry that Doug and I did not know about this.  We certainly would have been there with you all.  You all have a special place in my heart from many wonderful memories growing up with the "kids of the Davis Group".  Our parents certainly cherished each others friendships and had such a good time together.  I know they are and will be celebrating together in heaven.  

Paw paw, my only paw paw. It's so hard to accept that when I go home, I won't get a big hug from you. I looked forward to those along with you calling me "Squirt!" I thought I had all the time in the world to be with you and I just hoped you would be around forever. I love you and you are still alive in my memories and my heart. I miss you everyday.

Remembering dad is easy, I do it everyday. Missing him is a heartache that never goes away!!!

           A Gift or Two for You

   A toothpick to help pick out good qualities in everyone.

  Charlie was my gift from God. I have thanked Him for this beautiful man. 
  He was a man of quiet, gentle, strength, a Godly man, never realizing the reach of his influence. Charlie's life of love, kindness, and honesty, was by example.
  Thank you Charlie for a life of love and beautiful memories. I'll see you when my work is done.

My pawpaw. My only grandpa. You mean so much to me. You have shown me and given me so much love. You have taught me so much. You were a huge part of mine and my daughter's life. 

It's been 2 weeks to the day since you've been gone and it hasn't gotten any easier walking into your house without you there. I hope it will one day. I still think you are there and look forward to seeing your face, hearing you say "mother" to mawmaw, watching Kenzi run out of the bathtub and into your lap, having you come watch Kenzi and I in the pool, hearing you say "stink pot" to Kenzi. I'm so glad that I was able to spend so much time with you and see you almost daily.

I hate that you're gone but I love that you are with our heavenly Father and I will see you again one day. 

You're example of love and loyalty will be passed to my daughter that you had a huge part in raising. Your love for God and the example of what a Christian is will be instilled in her. The man you were is the kind of man i will pray for her to meet. This I promise you. Your memory will live on.

In the letter I wrote and read to you in your final days with us, I thanked you for what you've done for McKenzie and I, and I mean it with all of my heart. 

I love you pawpaw and still will not say goodbye. I will see your smiling face one day. I love you.

I was always welcomed into the Hoover home, but each entry required enduring the Mr. Hoover handshake!  The only person I've ever known who could tear a telephone book.  Growing up with the Hoover family was a blessing to me.  I'll never forget Mrs. Hoover gently introducing me to deodorant.  I was going through puberty and showed up at their house after romping through the woods on a sticky summer day.  Mrs. Hoover handled it so gently.  Mr. Hoover shared all kinds of sage wisdom with me.  He even showed me how he wrote his field notes so when I took my first civil engineering class in college I already knew how to write my field notes in an organized, flowing manner.  I was also familiar with the use of the transit so I had a leg up on all of my classmates. I suspect Mr. Hoover is going over The Lord's plan and profile drawings for the New Jerusalem, knowing they are perfect but just double-checking.  Like the Apostle Paul, Mr. Hoover ran the good race and has received his crown of glory.  My greatest reward for knowing Mr. and Mrs. Hoover is they raised up a family in love that served as a model for me.  I know our days are numbered but I rejoice in knowing our destinations are certain in Jesus Christ!  Looking forward to seeing Mr. Hoover once again and for all eternity!  I love you all!

My dad, my rock. I miss him so much!! So many wonderful memories! His life influenced so many. His love was unconditional. I thank Jesus for my dad and the time we had him. He is a rest now from his labor. He will receive his just reward that Jesus promised.

Mr. Charles Hoover was a very gentle man , a strong man that believed in supporting and taking care of  his family , he had a strong foundation of beliefs that he installed in kids and grand kids lives . He had strength to share ,as is a biblical principle he was a selfless man , another good principle, he knew how to express  his love to others , so that they could feel secure, he has left us big shoes to fill , but it can be done , let's pick up the torch & take up the responsibility he carried so well. His life has made and will forever make A difference. God has promised  a reward  For his people. it was an honor to have known him

I have never wanted to think of a day my papaw wouldn't be here with us. He has always been our steady in life. When I think about papaw, I think of a man who took the time to have a special relationship with his wife, and each of his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. Mine started before I was born, when he took his entire six week vacation to be with my mom and brother when I wanted to meet the world early and she was out on bed rest. He took my mom, brother, and I in when we were lost and let us stay and live with them for years. I had the privilege to be named after him, and to be able to name my son after him. Im going to miss calling and hearing him say hey sissy, ask about us and the kids, and say you want to talk to grandma, love ya. He was short and sweet, but his words always were full of meaning and love. He will live on in our hearts and memories, but will always be missed. I love you papaw!

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Uncle Charles. He was a wonderful person who we will always love and miss.

Losing a parent is very difficult and we pray that God gives you strength to be strong, now for your family and close friends and later for yourself when you get ready to call and realize he is no longer here.  Always know that he will be with you at your side holding on to God's hand.

Patsy and family, our heartfelt condolences on Charlie's passing.  We had lost touch with you and certainly didn't want to catch up with you like this. We have thought of you with much love and many fun-filled memories through the years.  Though your grief is very real and raw at this time we know you take great comfort in knowing Charlie is reaping his reward for a life well-lived.  May you cherish his memory and may he rest in peace.
