Charles Anton Dierks, age 97, of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. Charles was born July 26, 1925, in Sugar Land, Texas to Johann "Hans" and Elizabeth "Elsie" (Pilz) Dierks. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ethel Butler Dierks which he married on June 1, 1946. Charles honorably served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1945 in War World II on the U.S.S. Charles Ausburne.
After Charles returned home from the Navy, he worked as an electrician until he retired. Charles loved keeping up with his yard, which he did well into his 90’s. He was an active and dedicated member of the Fair Haven United Methodist Church. He also loved solving crossword puzzles. His favorite tv show, other than the news, was Jeopardy which he knew most of the answers to.
Charles was survived by his son, Kenneth Dierks, wife Judy West, sister, Margaret Phillips. He is also survived by his grandchildren Michelle Johnson, Michael Dierks, wife Lorena, great grandchildren; Marissa Dierks, husband, Joe McBride, Madalyn Johnson, Oriana Dierks Grisham, husband Tyler; Ethan Dierks; Kelli Johnson and Ryan Johnson, wife Kaitlyn. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Dierks, Edwin Dierks, Albert Dierks, Richard Dierks, Elizabeth Gardener, Dora Kohl.
A memorial service for Charles will be held Monday, May 15, 2023. Visitation starts at 1:00 PM, followed by chapel service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM and graveside at 3:30 PM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079 and officiated by Rev. Bob Luton of Fair Haven Methodist Church.
