Charles “Charlie” Francis Carruth passed away at the age of 81 on February 12, 2022 at his home in Houston, Texas. Charlie was born in New York on August 24, 1940 and raised in Houston by his parents, Reginald and Margaret Carruth.
Charlie graduated from John H. Reagan High School and pursued an automotive career and spent most of his time at Big 10 Tire on North Shepherd in the Heights. In his early years he spent time duck hunting and fishing with his father, brother and his son. Later in life, he and Edith (wife of 39 years), enjoyed going to the Nascar races and camping with their friends. After a neighborhood spin on their bicycle for two, Charlie and Edith often enjoyed having afternoon cocktails with their neighbors. Charlie volunteered many hours of service with the Forest Pine Civic Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reginald and Margaret Carruth and his granddaughter Carlie Edgington.
He is survived by his wife Edith Carruth and his children Clark (Susan) Carruth, Charon (Mark) Edgington, Catey Boudreaux, Dawn Ellen (Brandon) Herlong and Roy Krieg, and his grandchildren, Tyler, Amanda, Lexie, Anthony, Aubrey, Austin, Brooke, Megan and Peyton as well as four great grandchildren. Siblings Regina Ferrell, Doug (Sandra) Carruth and Phil (Barbara) Ross and numerous nieces and nephews and close friends. We would like to acknowledge all the generosity and support given to them by their friends and neighbors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation and service will be held on Wednesday February 23, 2022 at Pat H. Foley & Company, 1200 West 34th Street, Houston, TX 77018. Visitation will begin at 10:00am until the service time at 11:00am. A committal service will occur Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 1:00pm at Forest Park Lawndale, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. There will be a gathering following the committal service at Don Jose Mexican Restaurant from 3:00-5-00 pm at 5305 Antoine Houston, Texas.
