Charles Wilson Burke

Charles Wilson “Willie” Burke, age 65, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2018 at LBJ Hospital in Houston, Texas due to complications following surgery. He was born December 23, 1952, in Detroit to Charles and Veda Freeman Burke.

Willie was a member of St. Cyprian Episcopal Church in Detroit and attended St. John Methodist Church in Houston.

Willie graduated in 1971 from Cass Tech High School in Detroit and attended Saginaw Valley State College Saginaw, Michigan. After college he worked for Social Services in Saginaw and did home repair work in Detroit before moving to Houston.

A car enthusiast from a young age, Willie was always working on cars or hanging out in the garage. He was good with his hands and known to be a jack of all trades. In later years he worked as a mechanic, general contractor and was a certified forklift operator.

Willie was passionate about classic cars and loved the simple pleasures of just having morning coffee, cooking BBQ and chatting with his brother Scott about cars.

He leaves in Gods care his son: Jonathan Diffin (Becky); three grandchildren: Gino, Ivy, David Diffin; brother: Scott Burke (Michele); nephews: William Simms II (Marshelle), Miles Simms; three nieces: Maya Simms, Angela Simms, Brianna Clark and many other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Veda Burke and sister Veda Dianne Simms.

Celebration of Life Dinner, Saturday August 4, 2018 at 13603 Boerne Canyon Lane, Cypress, Texas 77429 from 4p – 7p. The Memorial Service will be in Detroit, Michigan at a later date.
