Charlene Joyce Cox Moore passed away in Houston, Texas on February 28, 2017. She was 85 years old. Charlene was born in Houston on April 23, 1931 to James W. Cox, Sr. (Jim) and Beatrice Wall Cox (Bea) and was raised in Houston with her three younger siblings Marlene, Linda, and Jimmy. She attended Milby High School in Houston, and in 1947 she married Pearl Clifford Moore. Together they raised three sons, Paul Clifford, Michael Stephen, and Joel Allen.
Charlene enjoyed a long and fruitful career in the industrial supply industry. She began as a receptionist at Houston Supply Company, continued later as a partner at Lone Star Industrial Supply. She was co-owner of Southwest Metal Products, and finally retired at age 82 from Lynco Flange and Fitting.
She was active in her churches throughout her life, most recently at Grace Bible Church of Houston. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School at Park Place Lutheran, singing in choir at Metropolitan Baptist, sewing her many crafts, listening to her special programs on KHCB radio, and spending time with her beloved family.
Charlene was preceded in death by Cliff and their oldest son, Paul; her parents, and sister, Marlene. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Michael and Mary Moore, from Houston, and Joel and Tracy Moore from Palmdale, CA; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; as well as her siblings Linda Oelze and Jimmy Cox, and their families. She will be dearly missed.
There will be a simple graveside service at 10 am, Monday, March 6 at Forest Park Lawndale. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Charlene's longtime favorite charities, Still Creek Ranch, boys and girls home in Bryan, TX.
