Chantay Jeanine Smith

Chantay’s educational development began at Durham Elementary School. She attended Clifton Middle School and Booker T. Washington High School for Engineering Professions. Chantay received both her Bachelor of Science in Finance and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston. She also obtained a Mid-Management Certification.

In 1994, Chantay launched her inaugural year in the field of education in Aldine Independent School District at Calvert Elementary School. Her outstanding leadership and service to Aldine’s stakeholders paved the way for her to be appointed Program Director of Elementary Mathematics in July 2002. She served in that position for 18 years.

Chantay took great pride in her family, friends and affiliations. Two of her most cherished affiliations were Junior League of The Woodlands and The Divas. She had a passion for beautiful things, food, and making memories with family and friends! She was known for her brilliant smile, sweet charm and poise.

Chantay accepted Christ as Savior and was baptised at Brentwood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Willie Eugene Smith, and her brother, Edward Smith.

She is survived by her mother, Barbara J. Smith. In addition to her mother, Chantay leaves the following to celebrate her precious memories: Nephew, Cedric Smith, Niece, Jacynth Smith, Greatniece, Jacyntria Smith, Goddaughters Brianna and Madison Webb, Godsisters Tameka McBride, Jenni Smith, and Loreal Spooner, Uncle Jake Smith (Mattie), Aunt Laura Smith, A special uncle and aunt Rev. Samuel Smith and Silver Smith (That she affectionately referred to as Papa and Grand), , Four sister-cousins Chris Booker, Etta Smith, Gladys Moton, and Samantha Goudeau (Kevin), three brother-cousins, Brenson Smith, Samuel Smith, and Zolton Smith, The Cousin Connection Group, and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Mt. Horeb MBC, Christian Education Department for a scholarship fund in Chantay Smith's name.
