Cecil R. Cooper was born on March 16, 1946, to the union of George Cooper and Ruth E. Johnson Cooper in Waco, Texas. At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord Savior and attended Second Missionary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. At the time of Cecil’s transition, he was a member of the Windsor Village Church Family in Houston, Texas. As a member, he began serving in the Parking Lot Ministry and then joined The Worshipping Warriors Male Chorus.
Cecil began his early education in the public school system in Waco, Texas and graduated from A.J. Moore High School, Class of 1964. After graduation, Cecil enrolled at Texas Southern University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Upon graduating from college, Cecil enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served four years of active duty then sixteen years in the Air Force Reserves. He retired after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force. Cecil was employed as an Accountant for UNOCAL, Apache Corporation and W&T Offshore, Inc. After 15 years of dedicated service, he retired from W&T Offshore, Inc. in January 2019.
Cecil was united in marriage to the late Georgia M. Reed. To this union, they had one daughter, Yolanda J. Cooper. He later met and married Connie Y. Flowers. To this union they had one daughter, Erika R. Cooper.
Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth Cooper, sisters, Beatrice Taylor and Macie Bell Jenkins, brothers, William Bass and Louis C. Cooper, aunt, Willie Mae Johnson, and former spouse, Georgia M. Reed Cooper.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Yolanda J. Cooper, and Erika R. Cooper, one nephew, Robert L. Taylor, Jr., one niece, Sonya Morris (Ronald), three great nieces, Natasha Taylor, Brittany Taylor and Marishah Taylor and a host of great nephews, great nieces, relatives, and friends.
