Catherine Louise Brand went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior April 9, 2013 after a long illness. Cathy was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, December 4, 1935 to the late Lucy G. and Otto G. Betz. She grew up in Ft. Thomas, KY where she attended Highlands High School and then Georgetown University as a talented music major and member of Delta Omicron. She came to know Christ at Newport Baptist Church when she was 8 years old and served her church for many years playing organ, piano and marimba. She also served as a children’s choir director, Girl Scout leader, and was an always-present volunteer in her daughters’ activities. Later in life she returned to the business world, working at Lockwood, Andrews and Newnam as an administrative assistant until her retirement. While working at LAN she met and married her loving, devoted husband of 19 years, William D. Brand.
Her love, passion and dedication to her family were evident in all that she did as she gave so selflessly to each of them. She was the heart of her family with husband Bill, daughters Kim and Leslie along with her five grandchildren. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and had a special place in her heart for each one of them. She was a long time member of Second Baptist Church and the Higher Ground Sunday school dept. where she played piano and continued to touch others with her musical talents.
Cathy is survived by her loving husband, William D. Brand, her daughters, Kim Martin and husband Robert of Katy, TX, Leslie Kohnen and husband Mike of Bay City, TX along with grandchildren, Allison Kohnen, Connor Martin, Mackenzie Kohnen, Carly Martin and Madison Kohnen.
