Catherine “Kay” Cameron McGlone, age 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at Methodist Hospital in Katy. She was born February 10, 1952, in Glasgow, Scotland, to Angus and Catherine (Friel) Brown.
As a child, Kay was a Highlander Dancer. She became a teacher of Highland Dance, founding her own school, and she was a member of the B.A.T.D. (Brittish Association Teachers of Dance). Kay married Conor McGlone in Scotland in 1971. She had 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. She moved to Ireland in 1983, and she started a bakery business called, “Just Cakes” where she supplied restaurants and shops with cakes and desserts. She immigrated to the United States of America, to Houston, Texas, in 1993. She managed the French Gourmet Bakery on Memorial for 16 years. In 2009, she opened Kay’s Tea Parlour. She brought some wonderful food to Katy, TX. She served all her own recipes, inspired from Scotland and Ireland. Kay was a great traveler; she traveled across the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. Her passion was food, meeting new people, and knitting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father Angus Brown ad mother Catherine (Friel) Brown. She is survived her aunt Vera Stafford, her sister Irene (Mike) Williamson, her husband Conor Vincent James McGlone, her daughter Angela (Jimmy) Kennedy, son Conor (Siobhan) McGlone, daughter Tara (Antron) Schroeder, son Simon (Lauren) McGlone, and son Nathan (Lourdes) McGlone. She has 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
The showing will be held on Friday, November 8th at 10:00 am at St. Edith Stein Catholic Church (281-492-7500) located at 3311 North Fry Road, Katy, TX 77449. Catholic Mass will be held at 11:00 am in the same location. Reception to follow at Kays home located at 3315 Lantern Bay Lane, Katy, Texas 77449.
