Catherine Ann “Cathy” Kistner was born March 2, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland and passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 8, 2022 in Katy, Texas after a 6 week battle with multiple complications. She was known by many names: Cathy and “Busia” to her grandchildren ( Polish for Grandma ). Cathy always had a special place in her heart for her faithful companions - her pets: Roxie, Mollie, Lucky, Mr Sunshine, Gus, Max, Pia, Skipper and Arabella.
Cathy retired from the federal government after working there for more than 20 years, where she had a successful career and made lifelong friends. She volunteered in her community leading the neighborhood association and was known for the fun memories created for the children with holiday visits from the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus in the park. Cathy’s big smile and laughter will be lovingly remembered by her close friends who celebrated her 70th birthday with her this year while enjoying her favorite mexican food and a margarita. She had a generous heart - her friends knew her door was always open, just drop by to visit and anything that was hers, was theirs to share.
Cathy was preceded in death by her mother, Anna M Cummings, of Glen Burnie, MD and her husband John Kistner Sr. of Katy, Texas. She is survived by her two step-children John Kistner Jr & Donna of White Oak, Texas, and Anastasia Ammon & Brian of Erie, Colorado, grandchildren Taylor Kistner & Jessica, Tyler Kistner, Kathyrn Ammon, John Ammon, Emily Couch, Ethan Ammon, and great grandchild Everett Kistner. She is also survived by her goddaughter Azul and her parents Juan and Anna Andrade.
A special thanks to her friends, especially Theodora Daly & Marsha Landry, Mike Brast, Patti Sweet, Candy Herzog, Kay & Samantha Elliot and so many others who were so compassionate and caring to check in on her, and a special thank you to Dr “K” Kalapatapu for his care over the years.
A graveside memorial of life service will be held on Saturday, January 14th, 2023 at 2pm at Memorial Oaks Cemetery next to her husband. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Katy Vet Clinic in Cathy’s name for their many years of loving care of all of her beloved pets.
From our family: Thank you to all the friends and former workmates of Cathy that have called or texted to stay in touch over the years. A heartfelt thank you to all. Cathy will be incredibly missed.
